Might sound sort of unrealistic, but I'm not looking for the top of the top of the top, really — just something that's comfortable enough to work with. Possibility to stretch the budget (or to still leave a margin!) — it's a very broad guideline. • Budget: around €600. I don't mind not using that amount to its fullest extent (and it would be preferable, actually). • Applications & games that I'll be using: Vegas, After Effects, 3ds Max, Photoshop... that kind of thing. When it comes to the latest games, I don't mind lowering the settings/resolution too much. I usually play more TF2 anyway. :v: • Native resolution: 1920x1080 • Things that I can re-use: keyboard, mouse, speakers, my Windows 7 key. • Extras: well, I actually already have a monitor, but I wouldn't mind changing it, so if you got advice on that, I'll take it! • Where I live: northwestern France. A few things to take into account: • I'd need a relatively large HDD (750GB to 1TB) • The ONE thing that's really a huge pain on my current PC is the RAM: only 3GB. If I had 6 or 8 instead, it would be really awesome. • I'd need a GPU that has enough VRAM, as I often work with /very/ large textures. My current graphics card, a GeForce 9600GT, only has 512MB, and Windows 7 starts pushing things into the RAM / SWAP file very fast (and oh boy, it does gets slow and unresponsive). • Speaking of the graphics card, as I said above, I don't think the latest & greatest would really be necessary. My 9600GT has been able to run all of the latest games (e.g. Crysis 2) on maximum settings (while lowering the resolution a bit) very nicely, so... well, I don't know what the mid-range GPU of today would be, but that's probably what I'd be getting.
I made you this rig : Case : Xigmatek Asgard 35€ PSU : Corsair TX650M 92€ Motherboard : ASRock H61M-VS 50€ Processor : Intel Core i3 2100 (3.1 GHz) - Dual Core Socket 1155 Cache L3 3 Mo Intel HD Graphics 2000 0.032 micron 50€ Memory : G.Skill NT Series 8 Go (kit 2x 4 Go) DDR3-SDRAM PC3-10600 - F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT 100€ Hard drive : Samsung SpinPoint F3 - HD103SJ - 1 To 7200 RPM 32 Mo Serial ATA II 48€ X 2 Graphic card : Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB - 1 Go 160€ Disc burner : Lite-On iHAS122 20€ Total 506€ with no taxes, 20€ shipping cost. (another proposal from a friend) (shipping 60€ which is quite high)
X6 processor TeamGroup RAM PowerColor GPU nope.avi
He's going to make movies , and animate, he needs good processor like the 1090T or The 2500 from Intel.By the way I prefer Mushkin RAM, i don't think Max needs a 6950, he said - "My 9600GT has been able to run all of the latest games (e.g. Crysis 2) on maximum settings (while lowering the resolution a bit) very nicely, so... well, I don't know what the mid-range GPU of today would be, but that's probably what I'd be getting." He could use a 6770 or 560Ti.
X6 processor TeamGroup RAM PowerColor GPU nope.avi
as I've been told, that CPU would be better than an i3 considering my price range
6950 is good for the GPU, but get an MSI or Sapphire version. You could get a X6, but even for animation it's not really worth it. Get a X4 IMO. Just change the RAM to Ripjaws or Corsair.

If Max is going to buy a quad-core processor, I would recommend the 2500 from Intel or the 2600.
It's still not worth the price unless you're doing HEAVY video editing/transcoding.

That's not particularly heavy.
By heavy, he means doing it as a job or enough that it could be considered a job. Editing a few times a week for youtube does not qualify you a heavy editor.
Earthbound! Anyway, i was wondering, why so much power for video editing?
