• Sweep Picking.

I'm seriously confused on how to even begin sweep picking. I am midway through learning the solo to Scream Aim Fire - BFMV and Im totally beat by the sweep pick. Does anybody have any decent guides or videos that can help me out? I've waded through so much unhelpful crap on youtube. Thanks.
The key is to play it so slowly that it's boring. Do it for 15 to 30 minutes a day. While you do this, observe your playing. Make minimal movement with your fingers and picking hand. Play it as cleanly as the guitar virtuoso's do it. After a week of this, you will feel a tremendous difference. Pick up the speed a little bit more. Don't advance in speed unless it's clean. You will be a pro in a month. Here something I made a while back. There is a good amount of sweep picking in it. Yeah, start slow. Very slow. Try to keep your fret hand relaxed, and make sure you are doing the sweep motion with your picking hand (rather than picking each note separately). A good place to start is to learn 5-string arpeggios. They are widely used and are relatively easy to play. Try to play chord progressions through arpeggios only. Major chord (E)
E :-----------9^h12-p9--------------| B :--------10^---------10v----------| G :------9^---------------9v--------| D :---11^-------------------11v-----| A :12^------------------------------| E :---------------------------------|
Minor chord (Em)
E :-----------8^h12-p8--------------| B :--------10^---------10v----------| G :------9^---------------9v--------| D :---10^-------------------10v-----| A :12^------------------------------| E :---------------------------------|
Minor chord with a an extra tapped note. Fun to play.
E :-----------8^h12-t17-p12-p8------------| B :--------10^-----------------10v--------| G :------9^-----------------------9v------| D :---10^---------------------------10v---| A :12^------------------------------------| E :---------------------------------------|
Don't pick the hammer-on or pull-off notes. And reset your sweep motion when you have played that last 10-note. (That is, never sweep that first 12 note with a motion to the ceiling.)

Sweep picking was hard to learn in my opinion, I found it hard to keep in tempo but, eventually I got it.
