Computer letting me log on but then goes to black screen.

I'm not really sure what's wrong with it, but it's annoying and probably not good. It's been having unexpected shutdowns for the last week or so, and now whenever I try to turn it on, it won't let me. I can log in and type in my password, but once I click log in, it loads and then goes to a black screen.
It loads in safe mode just fine, however. Any ideas?
Running Windows 7, HP Probook 4310s.

I tried a clean reboot (made sure NOTHING started on startup) and it's still not working. Now I'm just confused...
boot your windows cd and do a repair, see what happens.
I don't have my boot CD anymore.
-wait- go into your boot options again and see if system restore is in there
I tried to do a system restore in safe mode, but it said system protection was turned off or something. Which is weird.
Trying the reboot sys restore now...

There's a "Directory Services Restore Mode"
*click*

Not even THAT worked.
Might want to just scan for viruses in safe mode and try getting that windows cd
Doing a virus test right now, and my scanner seems to think EVERYTHING is a virus. Like, literally.

This worries me slightly.

Virus scan just finished, nothing was wrong, restarted and got a black screen again. When I get back to my room I'll try to download a new driver, maybe that's the problem.
I ended up having to basically just do a fresh install, which actually worked out great because now my computer is awesome.
