Need help fixing my 'click-clack' futon. One side no longer clicks into place!

I purchased one of those futons with the click-clack mechanisms, where you pull it forward and it clicks and once you pull it as far forward it will go, it releases and lets you lay down the futon all the way (kind of like one of those outdoor lounge chairs).
Anyways, my friend somehow managed to break it by exerting too much force. The right side no longer clicks upwards, but lays down. So I was wondering how I go about fixing the little clicking mechanism. Do I need anything special? I've googled the click-clack mechanism but I wasn't sure if there was a more proper term for the part.
Please let me know if there are any good videos or links that could help me with this problem!
Thanks!
You might get better results if you think of another name for the mechanism. Self locking seems to be an accurate description.
If you look at the one that still works and then the one that doesn't, is there anything obviously damaged, warped or otherwise different?
