Tell us what you thought about the movie you just finished watching. No TV shows.
Fuck that's a good point why haven't I been watching films recently...
Anywho I think it was Battle of the Five Armies
6/10 looked like a damned animation cartoon but the adventure was there. Made me feel like a kid.
I've never seen the LotR movies. Do I watch the extended editions or the normal ones?
yeah so as I said Interstellar was a 10/10 but now I'm thinking it's more of a 9/10 if we go the 'out of 10' route.

Extended. Unless you like making a puzzle with random pieces missing
id like to encourage people to stop using the ??/?? rating system and just use words instead. a short paragraph is better than a number
a number frankly doesn't tell me anything
kingsman ten out of ten

lol please justify this

the more you think about it the lower that number will go down. interstellar is a 6/10 at best for plot. visually it's great, i'll give them that. the score is complete ass because hans zimmer, typical. simply put, nolan tried his best to emulate stanley kubrick and fell flat on his face with a shitty explanation. kubrick did it right by not explaining a single thing about the aliens that helped jumpstart evolution and simply left them as a mysterious race only accessible through the monoliths. nolan's "love is the strongest thing in the universe durr" jumped the shark so bad it makes shoot 'em up seem believable.
also rusty, going on a ?/10 scale, the best way is to divvy it up by every two numbers being a sort of gauge, if you will.
0-1 - fucking hated it piece of shit worst film ever, etc.
2-3 - this is an absolute piece of shit
4-5 - this is bad but i've seen worse
6-7 - not great but not horrible/pretty enjoyable/average
8-9 - hot damn that was great everyone needs to see this
10 - this is literally a godsend
this could also be reduced to a ?/5 scale.

por que no los dos
My idea of the scale goes:
0- not worth it for any reason whatsoever aka only the families of the people in this movie ever watch it
1- might have someone naked in it, that's it, once you realize the internet has porn this kind of movie loses its charm
2- gratuitous gore might make it worth it to some
3- wow, what happened to ruin this potentially good movie? aka Fantastic Four
4- so bad you might like it aka "so bad it's good"
5- average, therefore a pointless waste of time although it's not bad per se
6- slightly above average, might be worth it for fans of genre/actor/director
7- popcorn movie, enjoyable in an undemanding way, like a $15 bottle of wine
8- genuine good movie, the kind you recommend to people
9- a perfect example of what it is, aka you can't make a better movie about FILLINTHEBLANK than this
10- all time classic, so good that even people who hate this kind of movie love this movie
Jurassic Park 3
4/10
It was on TV so I decided to watch it. I regretted it instantly. I forgot how much I despised this movie.
- Shoehorn Dr. Grant in for no reason
- No 'villain', just an angry Spinosaurus
- Raptors turned into turbosmarts again, plus """""feathers""""" (see: literally 3 nubs on the head call it a day)
- Death of Tyrannosaurus in most BS way possible
- Annoying "Mega Smart Kiddo!" trope still, even Jurassic World had that so I guess it's just required for this series
- Hideously dull characters, idiotic plot ("It was a third hidden island the whole time!")

What no, that was the second island and it makes that clear that the island is Site B. Right on the other points though.

Extended, without a doubt. A lot of little moments are added that flesh characters and resolve some loose ends (and yes, there are lots of those).
Boromir, as an example, goes from something of a douche (iirc, haven't seen the normal cuts in a while but I remember he came off badly) in the theatrical editions to a sympathetic, flawed hero in the Extended editions.

Why not both?
Why not both?
Because numbers don't mean shit really.
I'm getting mixed signals here.
As I said number ratings don't mean shit. People will use 10 and 9 improperly no matter what. In an ideal world they would work, but in ours they don't.
Yo nevermind, my bad.
For some reason I though the "justify this" post was in response to rusty suggesting people move away from the number rating system so I was very confused by your second post lol
On the topic though, there's no objective reason to not use both really.

When people see numbers they are less inclined to read the full review.
Why not both?
sure. but i feel the numbers are still pretty meaningless
for example people rating lotr 10/10 and shit when those movies are total trash >:)
Last film I watched was The Worlds End.
Anyway, The Worlds End. I personally thought it was quite a good way to end the Cornetto Triolgy as you got to see Simon Pegg and Nick Frost take on completely contrasting roles to their previous roles in Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, so that was sure refreshing, and impressive also. While it was initially slow to begin with, it eventually picked up in speed and became very entertaining. I also liked that the ending had quite a deep message about people and how we are, and whether perfection is actually a good or bad thing. But it was cool to see aliens getting their fucking heads smashed. I would recommend this film.

I will probably use this a lot. Quite fun writing reviews :incredible:
It Follows: 7/10
It was unsettling as hell, as I expected, and had ridiculously good directing and cinematography, which I wasn't expecting. Though, outside of the spooky bits, there wasn't really anything else I'd describe as good. Like, the characters were pretty eh and uninteresting and the story was only decent. "Safe" would be the word I would use to describe it.

he isn't wrong
interstellar is incredible just from a visual standpoint
Tresspass is a garbage film starring Nicolas Cage as a businessperson who has a large, under-renovation house and sells diamonds or something? Anyway, it's a home invasion thriller where Nic Cage, his wife, and later his rebellious teenage daughter end up at the mercy of a bunch of losers wearing pantyhose over their heads. For a while it seems like it's going to be mildly interesting when Nic Cage starts to smooth talk and get into the heads of the criminals (and as tension between the criminals mounts as the job starts to go wrong), but it rapidly devolves into "Open the safe" "No I won't open the safe" "Open the safe" "No I won't open the safe" ... "Where is the money" "I put it all in the house and family" "Where is the money" "I put it all in the house and family" ... "I'm gonna kill his wife" "No don't kill my wife!" "Don't kill his wife!" "I'm gonna kill his wife!"
But there is one factor that redeems the whole thing. [sp]Early in the film, Cage's safe is revealed to actually be empty, and he says that he's (paraphrasing) "broke and put all of my money in my house and family". At the climax, Cage's family and the home invaders are playing cat-and-mouse in the under-renovation parts of his house. A bad guy takes out a knife and swings at Cage, and misses, but cuts through some exposed insulation, and bills pour out. That's right, when he said he put the money in his house, he really put the money in his house.[/sp] This dead-serious film is (probably unintentionally) a shaggy dog story.
I can't recommend watching it, but when that scene happened I absolutely lost it. I'd rate it a 1/5 and give it a One Redeeming Factor award.
I watched at least most of the movie As Above So Below last night.
It was basically just your typical found footage fare (which say what you will about them, but I enjoy me a good found footage film) but in the last half hour or so I ended up just shutting it off and going to bed. Take that as you will.

numbers indicate personal opinion
i for one agree that lotr is a solid 9/10, while some others *cough*you*cough* think less of them.
tl;dr opinions.

except nobody can seem to agree on what the numbers mean
"it was ok 10/10"
"i loved it 7/10"
"worst thing ive ever seen 6/10"
