you’d think players would have found everything hidden across the game’s four discs by now. YouTube user GarlandTheGreat proved that notion wrong, and showed us all that the game still has full-blown side quests hidden beneath the well-crafted story.
Makes you wonder how many games there are that have never before seen content right beneath our noses
I guess this is as good an excuse as any to play it again. I've always loved IX. By far my favorite Final Fantasy game.
That's pretty damned shocking considering how large the FF fanbase is.
Well, I was hoping it would be a bit more substantial than that. But it's still pretty awesome.
Never played FF9, I got bored with FF8 and never really picked up the series again.

this game looked a lot more beautiful in my memories

It's kinda the most hidden sidequest in anything ever, it's on par with Arkham Asylum's sequel easter egg.

It's not as distinctly interesting as the sequel easter egg due to the subject matter, but I'd say this is far more hidden considering it took 13 years to discover it. :v:
I meant in terms of hidden sorry :v:
I'd love to have every FF game on Steam, watched my cousin play it when I was a wee lad and it looks fun.
That's pretty damn crazy, after 13 years?
I really feel like replaying this game now.

It's pretty much leagues better than eight.
Eight is like, a complete damp squib. The story's not very cohesive, and adding to that the combat sucks boot.
I wish they ported FF9 to PC. I loved that game so much.
And fixed the god-awful 7 and 8 ports.
How exactly do they know for sure nobody else has ever seen this quest until now..?
How shit that it takes more than decade to find stuff in your game. Golden Sun is better
This doesn't looks like a "newly found quest". It looks more like a "oh, this is a quest?" kind of thing.
Probably everyone has done that, but people probably never really considered it a quest or a side-quest, hence why saying it was discovered just now seems a bit farfetched.

imo, looks better when played on the playstation with a TV, like it should be.

the quest is detailed here, and highly doubt it was changed now.

Actually if you look at the history, that page wasn't added until the 26th

Where is that? I've been looking forever and I can't see that. It's late as hell, must be blind as a bat already :v:
But still, this seems like the kind of stuff you do and you don't even think about calling it a side quest, hence why it was found "just now".
the problem is that this guy didn't exactly find it himself, he used a japanese guide and then filmed it and then presented it as "HEY GUYS I FOUND A SIDE QUEST THAT NOBODY HAS EVER FOUND" when in fact somebody DID find it before, just not in english speaking countries.

An offhand comment by a Team Ico dev launched a near decade of secret searching in Shadow of the Colossus. Yet, I think a whole one thing has been found unfortunately.
I wish they ported FF9 to PC. I loved that game so much.

It's a PS1 game you could emulate it on a grocery bag
were there not strategy guides that wouldve covered the quest?
were there not strategy guides that wouldve covered the quest?
yes the guy who made the video figured it out by reading a japanese guide.

I remember Splinter Cell Double Agent (iirc) as having a somewhat complicated easter egg involving a penguin. Nobody ever found it so the creator had to come out and show where it was.

sadly most FF fans hate or ignore IX because it's a throwback to older non-Anime RPG's. Also it got overshadowed by the PS2's release
