• Xbox 360 grinding noises. Sigh..

Well.. This is the second time I've had issues with my xbox's disc drive. First time it was as simple as opening the blighter up and putting the magnet back in it's place in order to get it to read games properly, but now it's gone worse. With the magnet still in it's place, every time I now try to play a game off a disc, I hear surprisingly loud, continuous grinding noises coming from the disc drive, which has unfortunately led to a major 'perfect circle' scratching on my Halo Reach disc (no worries though, I have game-protection, thankfully), and also many other tiny scratchings on the rest of the disc. Not only has this rendered my Halo disc unreadable, but it now refuses to read most any game without emitting annoying grinding noises, and most of the time it doesen't read them very well at all. I am baffled as to what the problem is, but after doing some research I found out that it might be the motor? I am not sure, and I'm curious if anyone else has these problems, and has the knowledge available for me to fix it. The grinding noise is identical to the noises in this video;
My god, that sound would bring me to tears. Try setting the console on it's side.
Cant you just send your xbox back to microsoft and they will replace it? (Assuming its under warranty)
Do you know which type of drive it is? I have heard the Samsung ones have problems with the belt on the motor.
Do you know which type of drive it is? I have heard the Samsung ones have problems with the belt on the motor.
From the looks of it, a hitachi drive. I will look into the motor problem further, later.
Cant you just send your xbox back to microsoft and they will replace it?
