BOSTON — Dzokhkar Tsarnaev was found guilty Wednesday of all 30 federal counts in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing case and faces a possible death sentence. He was convicted of a string of charges, including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. Tsarnaev, flanked by his three lawyers, showed no emotion, mostly staring at the defense table and occasionally looking straight ahead. At one point he crossed his arms as Federal Judge George O'Toole read the lengthy verdict. The seven-woman, five-man federal jury returned its verdict after two days of deliberations.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/04/08/boston-marathon-bombing-jury-deliberation/25451777/
Unless he's kept in solitary for the rest of his life, he's probably a dead man even if he's not executed. Can't imagine people in prison will be keen on him considering what he did. This is not a good thing.
Massachusetts could conceivably sentence Tsarnaev to death - something that hasn't been done since the execution of two mobsters in 1947. MA outlawed the death penalty in 1984 - it will be interesting to see how this goes down. I personally think they should have brought him down to D.C. for this trial instead of doing it in state.
COUNT 6: Conspiracy to bomb a place of public use? GUILTY
Is that really a specific crime?
Is that really a specific crime?
it's a specific crime when it happens as often as it does. maybe not right now, but especially in situations america and the UK have been prone to public bombings
Is that really a specific crime?
you have to also remember that prosecutors are throwing the whole entire book at Tsarnaev. they're going to convict him of as many things as humanly possible
Found guilty on all 30 charges. Hes a dead man walking. No way the defense could produce enough mitigating evidence to not get the death penalty
nah they'll send him to Florence, I'm certain of it the only reason they executed McVeigh is because he practically begged for it
i didn't know i had a firearm in my kitchen [editline]8th April 2015[/editline] are there still people on tumblr who think he didn't do it because he is too pretty
Yeh.... how is a pressure cooker a firearm? and more importantly, how is it a WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION as far as I knew, a WMD was along the lines of a nuclear warhead...
Yeh.... how is a pressure cooker a firearm?
generally speaking, when it explodes at the feet of 400 people watching a marathon
COUNT 16: Littering in a public area GUILTY
Well, he did put the bomb in a trash can
snip now Im bloody confused about that.

They'll go "weeeell, technically, he blew up part of the street, so that's fairly destructive, surely more than one would see in everyday life, soooo, technically, it's mass destruction."
generally speaking, when it explodes at the feet of 400 people watching a marathon
Firearms use the controlled expansion of a low explosive to project an object down a tube in a reasonably predictable path. A pressure cooker cannot do this, it would be more proper to call it a bomb. Not that it makes a difference. Pedantics, really.
i didn't know i had a firearm in my kitchen...
Yours isn't, but it is when you modify it like they did. So technically, if they want to hit him with every charge, they can say it was a firearm.
generally speaking, when it explodes at the feet of 400 people watching a marathon
Unless the explosion metamorphoses those fragments into an AK-47 I think the term 'firearm' is being misapplied. But for all I know they don't have a separate charge for 'bomb' and just lump it in.
-fucking merge-
Is that really a specific crime?
Yes, and people have gone to jail for years for it.
I think the term 'firearm' is being misapplied.
You're probably correct. The term used in legislation under Title II weapons is 'Destructive Device', which includes:
(1) any explosive, incendiary, or poison gas, (A) bomb, (B) grenade, (C) rocket having a propellant charge of more than 4 ounces, (D) missile having an explosive charge of more than 1/4 ounce, (E) mine or (F) similar device. (2) Any weapon by whatever name known which will, or which may be readily converted to, expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or other propellant, the barrel or barrels of which have a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter (.50 inches or 12.7mm), except a shotgun or shotgun shell which the Secretary finds is generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes; and
It'd be more kin to a mine or a grenade than it would be a gun.

It doesn't need a "tube". I don't know if he packed metal bearings or screws in it too, but those would also be projectiles.

Absolutely, utterly alone, confined in the most secure prison in the US, but fine.
Apparently everyone here forgot that him and his brother shot a few other people in the hours/days after the bombing in the escape/subsequent manhunt
