The game is outstanding. Better than any Mario Kart imo.
Definitely the best kart racer I've ever played, it just doesn't have that charming childhood nostalgia that I hold for Mario Kart.

I've got this on the WiiU. It's actually really good. No overly bullshit powerups like red shells or blue shells, driving is smooth as fuck and feels really good, AI ranges from "piss easy" to "average" to "holy balls this is fucking insane" without just resorting to blue shell right before the end of the race. Even if you don't know half the characters it's still a really solid kart racer.

Isn't the rocket power-up pretty much a red shell? From what i've seen, it has pretty similiar functions, trailing the nearest enemy in front of you until it hits.

That's the drone, but yes. Though you can dodge the drone if you know how to boost properly.
