http://nypost.com/2016/07/29/judge-blasts-nick-denton-for-lying-about-gawker-stock-value/
A Florida judge said Gawker founder Nick Denton “misled” the court about the value of his company — and punished him by ruling that Hulk Hogan could start seizing his assets. Denton told Judge Pamela Campbell in June that Gawker Media Group, Inc. was worth $276 million. He didn’t have the cash to post the $50 million bond required to appeal the $140 million verdict awarded to Hogan, so he offered his stock in Gawker instead. Denton said that his 30 percent stake in Gawker was worth $81 million. The $81 million figure was “used to give [Hogan] and this court the impression that the stock had significant value,” Campbell says in a decision released Friday. Based on that representation Campbell agreed to the offer—only to learn later that the stock was worth closer to $30 million. “Mr Denton…misled this court in connection with [his] pledge of Gawker Media Group, Inc. stock by concealing material information about the value of that stock which a reasonable person, under the circumstances, should have disclosed,” Campbell says in the order. What Denton did not disclose is that he’d already prepared to file bankruptcy on behalf of Gawker and had pledged to sell the company for just $90 million. That sale price meant that Denton’s share was worth under $30 million—not the $81 million he cited to the court.
My god that company had a family!
funny thing is, this case could've gone to gawker but thankfully, denton & his cohorts are bunch of retards that did everything possible to lose this case i hope that 'joke' about being its okay to distribute child porn was worth it
So he bartered a deal with what was essentially the integrity of his company, which wound up upon closer inspection to be good as nothing? I know there's a perfect comment to be made here, but just can't put it all together in just the right way. Should have sent a poet.
Never let this moment die. If only there was some way Nick could've avoided all this trouble.

If only there was some way Nick could've avoided all this trouble.
not to mention even after all this, he won an appeal for a delay to get his shit together and re-strategize then he fucking lied on a public record that can be checked and now he can't stop the hulkamania from running him over it takes a special kind of idiocy to do this much fuck-ups
Haha oh boy, this is amazing. SMASH 'EM, HULKSTER!
And why exactly do you think this case should have gone to Gawker, if I may ask?
i never said should, i said 'could'. they were doing somewhat well in the beginning cause legality-wise, they had a credible argument that he's a celebrity whose made his sex-life a public matter therefore of public interest. and among other first amendment issues ( can juries decide which stories are newsworthy or not, etc.) they can credibly argue. but day-by-day, he kept fucking up in front of the jury by saying it'd be fine to promote child pornography, saying he didn't believe his dick was of anything of value which went against his entire case, and etc.
Obligatory:
I will never understand this case. Why did they keep the sex tape up? They could've avoided all of this by just taking it down. Instead they had to be stubborn for no reason and go to court over it (why), and after that it's just been one trainwreck after another and now the company is getting ass-blasted into oblivion. How do you fuck up this bad :why:
So, how long until Kotaku, Gizmodo and the rest of their brain-dead leftist media die out?
When they do something stupid like Gawker did, though I don't think lightning will strike the same spot thrice.
When they do something stupid like Gawker did, though I don't think lightning will strike the same spot thrice.
they are all under the purview of gawker media, so i was lead to believe
So, how long until Kotaku, Gizmodo and the rest of their brain-dead leftist media die out?
they could be sold off and still output their bs. The only way is the ebaumsworld way.
I will never get over the guy making a snarky joke DURING HIS TRIAL. I thought for years it was just a kind of lowest-common-denomination sort of humour that kinda helped pushed articles on places like Cracked or Kotaku. Nope, there are just dipshits out there who speak like that
Ooo, i hadn't heard about it, how far into his mouth did he manage to fit his foot?
how to lose a case 101 http://nypost.com/2016/03/09/gawker-editors-line-a-sex-tape-of-a-4-year-old/
“Can you imagine a situation where a celebrity sex tape would not be newsworthy?” Daulerio answered flatly, “If they were a child.” “Under what age?” attorney Charles Harder asked. “Four,” he said. “No four-year-old sex tapes, OK,” Harder said.
he doesnt regret it
he's like Martin Shkreli, absolutely no sense of PR whatsoever
Isn't this kind of thing like felony level type stuff? I mean being a sack of shit is one thing, but lieing to the court about how much the prosecution will get from your stocks has to be contempt of the court in some form.
Is there anything we lose by Gawker dying? I remember some people saying that they had some good companies under their umbrella and it will be sad to see them go.

The "Good" sites were shit too, they just had like one decent writer who wasn't as terrible as the rest.
Nothing of value. The "Good" sites were shit too, they just had like one decent writer who wasn't as terrible as the rest.
Jalopnik is surprisingly decent with only a few shit writers, it's honestly a inverse version of the rest of Gawker. But the kind of people that Gawker usually panders to with shitty sensational articles aren't exactly also car people, so that explains that.
So, how long until Kotaku, Gizmodo and the rest of their brain-dead leftist media die out?
Isn't Kotaku blacklisted by most companies for constantly leaking games months or even years before release?
I hope he's made an example out of them. Stick Gawker's' head on a pike for all the shitty web journalists out there to see.
Ooo, i hadn't heard about it, how far into his mouth did he manage to fit his foot?
Always releveant.
