Prime Minister spoke to Christian leaders assembled in Downing Street – after listening to an unfortunately-timed rendition of ‘Ave Maria’
David Cameron has claimed divine inspiration was at work when it came to drafting a key concept for Conservative Party policy.
Speaking last night at his Easter reception in Downing Street, the Prime Minister reportedly said he was simply doing God’s work when he launched the “Big Society” initiative of volunteering and civic responsibility.
“Jesus invented the Big Society 2,000 years ago,” Mr Cameron said. “I just want to see more of it.”
On the day that saw Culture Secretary Maria Miller resign over a furore about her expenses – despite repeatedly being back by the Prime Minister – Mr Cameron was said to have no comment on a singer’s choice of hymn: “Ave Maria”.
“It is the case that Christians are now the most persecuted religion around the world,” Mr Cameron said. “We should stand up against persecution of Christians and other faith groups wherever and whenever we can.”
And offering his services to help the Church keep up its commitments to Jesus’s Big Society concept, he a little bizarrely compared himself to a company that unblocks drains.
“If there are things that are stopping you from doing more, think of me as a giant Dyno-Rod,” he said.
I thought this shit was limited to the White House. I guess idiocy knows no borders.
If there are things that are stopping you from doing more, think of me as a giant Dyno-Rod,
Not quite the kind of rod I would have compared him to.
I did not have him down as a religious person, I must admit.
He's right about Christians being the most persecuted in the world at least. Not in a 'We're FOX News and no one will listen to us way', but actual contempt in some parts of the world.
Edit: I deserve that. I meant 'one of the most persecuted', as in a rather large silent minority in some parts of the world. Always proof read your posts!
Praise thee Dyno-Rod!
"Christians are now the most persecuted religion around the world"
Says the christian leader as he directs his armies to bomb the shit out of muslims

What. I thought Cameron had more sense than this. What utter pandering bullshit

You know.. there's a difference between moderate or liberal Muslims who practice their religion peacefully and the Taliban who persecuted their own people and sent them back into the Dark Ages.

It's more likely that he thinks Christians are persecuted by Atheists, particularly if what Eric Pickles said the other day is anything to go by..
Militant atheists should “get over it” and accept that Britain is a Christian nation, a minister has said.
Eric Pickles, the Communities Secretary, hit out at opponents of religion who try and “impose” their “politically correct intolerance”
Belief is just faith in an idea, and no idea should ever be safe from scrutiny.
And let me just say that "divine inspiration" is one of the worst supporting statements I've ever heard in my life. You're literally admitting to being either delusional or retarded.

Nah stupidity is also in Canada since we're so close to the states. The idiocy is spreading...

He's a Tory, they're complete shitlords any time they do anything. Most of them seems to be quite more religious than other parties. I'm honestly surprised he didn't do this sooner really.

Civilian cost of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to date? ~ 1 million casualties.
Civilian cost of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to date? ~ 1 million casualties.
Yeah, they all died because we wanted to kill Muslims, of course.
“It is the case that Christians are now the most persecuted religion around the world,”
Ahahahaha, no. Not even close. Persecution of Christians does exist in places, but considering just how prevalent and powerful Christianity is on a global scale, you can't reasonably say it's being stomped on.
Saying Christians as a whole are oppressed is like saying whites the world over have no power and are treated like slaves. Sure, it's true in certain places which have reason to hate Christianity/white people, but outside of those isolated pockets of persecution, they're doing pretty damn good for themselves.
Christians might be getting flak in some parts of the world, considering they've pretty much reigned supreme in the Western world for ages and have done a lot of nasty shit to other people, but they're not the most persecuted religion on Earth by any stretch.
Oh, that's why he's so obsessed with porn and the daily mail vote.

Surely this must be some American politician or religious nutjob named Cameron. Not even our Cameron would say something this asinine.

Western forces haven't adopted an active policy of attacking civilian targets. As with all wars, I'm not denying civilian casualties happen. But there's a difference between isolated incidents regarding Western forces and the Taliban who deliberatley attack civilians. Regarding Iraq, religious divisions were bound to lead to civil conflict. Look through history and you'll see religious persecution leading to physical force.
Y'hear that sound, Cameron? That's the rest of the youth vote flying out the window.
What a twat.
Yep, the religion with the majority of followers around the world is being persecuted. v :v: v
If Majorities persecute minorities, who persecutes majorities? Reptilian overlords or something, uh?

not to support this idiot, but faith is more than an idea, its a moral code, a social circle, a binding covanent and much more. but I dont agree with bringing up the bible or divine inspiration and using them as explanation for social policy there is over five hundred years of governmental philosophy and social philosophy, read some fucking Locke or kampft or Jefferson or anything from Madison before you pick up a bible
If Cameron posted on facepunch he would get nothing but funnies because everyone would think he's being sarcastic

I came here expecting James Cameron or something not the PM.
I did not have him down as a religious person, I must admit.
He isn't.
I thought Jesus invented the Bible that's another blunder from Cameron
No offense to any religious folks out there, but Christianity pretty much ISN'T the most persecuted, it's rather vice versa and it's the Christians doing the persecuting against other religions as it has been for centuries. And it's sad.
How could the tories ever possibly get re-elected.
