'Jurassic World' just had the biggest Friday in box office history film opened Thursday at 7 p.m. and broke Universal's all-time "Thursday night preview" debut record with $18.5 million. Friday's numbers are in and, combined with Thursday's grosses, "Jurassic World" nabbed a gargantuan $82.3 opening day. That number is the third-biggest debut of all time behind "Avengers: Age of Ultron" ($84 million) and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" ($91 million).
Forbes' Scott Mendelson reports that if you take away the late-night Thursday numbers, the film actually grossed $64.1 million on Friday alone, which is the biggest "pure" opening day of all time, surpassing the recent "Furious 7" ($52 million) and both "Avengers" films ($63 million and $57 million respectively).

Suck it, Avengers. Though everyone will know this victory will be short lived till Star Wars.
Well, that at least means financially it wasn't a bomb.
Still, is the movie itself good?

Err... Well... Its fine, I didn't like it at all but it's not horrible.
Gets bloody daft towards the end of it but still It's far and way better than 3.
Considering Jurassic Park basically just started shitting itself super hard after thefirst film it's not hard to imagine this would be better than the atomic turd that was 3.

Sam McNeil didn't even have to act in the third one - He and his character were on the island just for money and made disgusted faces

I thought it was predictable, yet entertaining. Definitely a fun flick to watch, but not something you put a lot of thought into.

w/e Avengers 2 sucked anyway so it might as well be deserved.
The movie was more of an homage to the original than an outright sequel. If you go and see it with that in mind, you'll enjoy it a lot more than if you went expecting it to be a direct story continuation.

Ya its probably the weakest of marvel films, topping ironman 3, though I think ant-man might change that, it doesn't look too good from the trailer which appears to give away 90% of the movie
I doubt I'll go see this though because I honestly don't like jarasic park survival pern

It was weaker than iron man 3? Jeez.
Just wait till Starwars in December.

that's some funky-ass pixelation you've got going on there
It was a shitty 2 hour advert for Samsung and Mercedes.
And I loved every minute of it.

I dunno, but the trailer looked about as generic as it gets to me.
Iron Man 3 is great, Marvel nerds just got all butt mad because of the twist in it.

I am not a Marvel nerd whatsoever and I found it a pretty poor movie.

the avengers is a better movie than this one though
I enjoyed the part where the raptor fucking smiled
w/e Avengers 2 sucked anyway so it might as well be deserved.
Wasnt the "Age" of Ultron only like 1 day?
Pretty good. At least it had a decent ending instead of the third film's sudden 'military are here' ending.
Mad Max is still the best film this year.
I enjoyed the part where the raptor fucking smiled
I don't plan on watching Jurassic World but I want to see that
Avengers 2 was great tho
The Mercedes advertising was very fucking cringy.
What kind of retard cruises through a jungle in this

Only car that made perfect sense was the 6x6.
I enjoyed it. Yeah, it was predictable, but its Jurassic [del]Park[/del] World. Its going to be predictable, its not some art house production or Academy Award drama. Its fucking dinosaurs. I liked it, I thought it did exactly what it needed to in order to be a good Jurassic Park movie.
I mean in the very beginning when [sp]Dr. Wu says "It was designed to be bigger than the TRex" It was obvious the final battle was going to involve the Indomitus Rex battling with a TRex and probably Christ Pratt's Raptor Pack.[/sp]
I loved the Raptor Pack though, cool shit.
Avengers 2 was great tho
It was really bloated, particularly with all those completely out of place and unncessary romance scenes between bruce banner and black widow
You could have cut about 20-30 minutes out of the film.
I also enjoyed the film. Wasn't the best, but it definitely wasn't completely shit either. There was some good throw backs to the previous films, and good action.
there hasn't been a single good Jurassic park film since the first one, i don't understand why people were so excited to see this

Its dinosaurs dude with an established name. Thats absolutely all you need to know.
This movie is honestly more for kids, not like children 8-10, but like 12-16, and they are dragging their parents along who all probably saw the first 1 at least so they would obviously oblige to take them. They just want to see dinosaurs because they are rad. Plus its REALLY the only movie series that bothers doing dinosaur shit even decently.
Dont think anyone at all was ever excited for the fact that it might out do JP1(I dont think anyone even thought this), I think everyone excited just wanted dinosaurs and Chris Pratt.

Probably because this one is hardly related to the other films, what I don't understand is why you'd relate it to the awful JP sequels.
I mean for fucks sake, JP3 was made in 2001. It's been 14 years, this is a VERY different movie.
I keep hearing mixed things about this movie; but considering I had no interest in seeing it previously, I think I'll wait for it to hit Blu-Ray before checking it out.
I can't believe that after 2 terrible sequels, that this series still goes on to gross so much money. I guess I underestimate how much people want to see dinosaurs OR how much people still love the original movie.
edit:

Answering for myself; I thought Jurassic World looked like another dumb Jurassic Park sequel. I love that they returned to the original idea of setting it in a park with dinosaurs, but I never really liked the idea of the genetic modification angle. I don't know how important it is in the actual movie, but that scene of Chris Pratt riding alongside a pack of raptors seemed really dumb to me. A lot of other things in the trailers also seemed needlessly complicated as well like those weird orbs that characters travel around the park in (They seem dumb and impractical to me). It just seemed like a big clusterfuck of ideas with no heart. But apparently the moving going public disagreed with me. Keep in mind, I know I sound ignorant as shit and the movie may address all of my concerns, but they couldn't convince me to see it (And I love seeing movies).
Oh yeah, and Chris Pratt. I know multiple people who went to see it just because he was starring in it, that I kind of get.
Edit 2:
And no Stan Winston magic :(
I don't know if all the Dinosaurs are CGI in Jurassic world, but nothing in the trailers looked as real as the original movie.
