• Will an Asus K61IC-A2 run modern games?

I'm not looking to run Crysis on ultra high or anything, but I'd like to be able to play recent games at okay settings. Here are the specs: 2.53GHz Intel P8700 Core 2 Duo processor 4 GB of RAM (8 max if I were to put more in) NVidia GT 220M graphics card with 1GB DDR2 VRAM 320GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
No
If by "okay" settings you mean low/medium, then yes.
Alright. So it could run an average modern game at medium-low settings with a decent FPS?
Alright. So it could run an average modern game at medium-low settings with a decent FPS?
Yes. But if you told us what country you live in, and gave us a a budget, I'm sure someone would manage to find a better one for the same price. (Unless you don't want to buy online.)
If by modern you mean games like Garrysmod, Counterstrike source, that sort of thing yeah. I'd say low generally, but very playable.
It costs about 800$, am I correct? [editline]07:55PM[/editline]
If by modern you mean games like Garrysmod, Counterstrike source, that sort of thing yeah. The 220m performs a bit less well than a 7800 GTX. No anti-aliasing of course.
I live in the U.S. and I have $1000 to work with. [editline]02:32PM[/editline] And yeah, the one I'm looking at is around $800.
Upgrade your desktop or build a new one, unless you want a laptop really badly Specs please.

(It's less than this, I just did some rough, round-off counting).
wait he has 1000 why are you suggesting stuff that's less than half that

To show him he can get better hardware for less
Plus, he just wants to run the average game, something the above system will do without any problems at all. And if you're still not happy, change the mobo and CPU to something more powerful (Quad Core) and you've got yourself a quite nice setup.
Using my desktop is unfortunately not an option at the moment, I'm using my old terrible laptop currently. [editline]05:35PM[/editline] Oh, and those links are broken. D:
I'd suggest getting an asus g60jx-rbbx05. I got one recently for 540 bucks and it runs GTA IV on high. [editline]09:31AM[/editline] But yeah the one you're looking at would be able to play most newer games on medium settings, but it may not be able to run future releases very well.
I hate when people make a thread where they ask questions about what laptop they should get, and suddenly someone decides that OP doesn't need a laptop and instead says he should buy a desktop. He needs a LAPTOP not a DESKTOP. Deal with it.
What I suggested is a laptop [editline]10:38AM[/editline] A damn good one at that. Although its a bit bulky (16")
What I suggested is a laptop [editline]10:38AM[/editline] A damn good one at that. Although its a bit bulky (16")
Well, I wasn't replying to you. :v: I was pointing at the "derp get a desktop" guys.

Hrm, I took a look at the laptop markfu mentioned, and it looks good (and it's in my price range, too).
Well for gaming they should.
Not in all cases. If you're the kind of guy that visit friends a lot, then a Laptop is in many cases a better choice. I have both btw.
Yeah, and I like to be a lazy ass and sit on the couch whilst playing games. :v:
Alright, guys. I was looking at the G60JX-RBBX05 and the G51JX-X3 (both Asus), and the only advantage of the G51JX-X3 seemed to be the two-year warranty. Should I get the G51JX-X3 for the warranty, or just fuck it and get the $200 cheaper laptop for $8000?
You can easily build a PC that can run crysis on ultra high for 570$ - 750$.

I don't need any more help for the moment. Thanks for all your input, guys!
