• Most efficient parts to upgrade for better performance?

So I'm looking to upgrade my PC, and I'm on a sort of limited budget of about £500, so I was wondering what parts would be the best to upgrade if I wanted to increase performance in games. Right now I have: Intel Core 2 quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz) Nvidia 8800 GTX 4GB DDR2 RAM So yeah as I said I basically want to know what I should upgrade to get the best bang for my buck, and just so you know I'm running Vista 32 bit, and apparently my motherboard can't support SLI. So if you guys could throw in any suggestion on what parts to get that would be much appreciated, thanks.
Get a 5770 or 4890. Perhaps you could get a new cooler for your processor and overclock.
If he's got £500 he may as well get a 5850/70. Unfortunately you can't upgrade your CPU without getting a new motherboard, so do as gamerkiwi suggests and get a new CPU cooler and overclock
Yeah, overclocking it will increase performance pretty well.
Actually if you did want to re-do your whole rig you could get: Motherboard: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174499 CPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/172755 GPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/222056
He would need new RAM though.
Good point. Op would have to spend another £90 if he went with my new motherboard
No. The q6600 overclocks amazingly and is by no means out dated. What's your psu

I have a Q6600 and a 5850 and overclocking made them bestest friends.
My Q6600 runs at 3.8GHz with a Hyper 212+ super smoothly
No idea what my psu is, I'll have to open up my case sometime, I tried to take a look in the side window but there was a thick layer of dust on everything. If I was hypothetically going to get a whole new rig or replace most of my parts, does anyone have any suggestions?
