I'm having a bunch of random problems with my router. Every day it goes out at least twice. It also disconnected every computer on my network, but was still partially connected, eg I could use skype and have steam chats but I couldn't view any sort of HTML. I fixed that problem by making all the DNS's on each computer 4.2.2.2, but the router still goes out whenever it feels like it. Sometimes it tells the computers "it's connected and online" but absolutely nothing works.
I'm also viewing webpages (such as youtube and wikipedia mainly) as an entire HTML page with no CSS or whatever to make it look pretty - it looks like youtube was coded in html only and everything's going down on the page. Screenshot
To fix all these problems I have to go all the way into the other room, disconnect the router, wait ten seconds, then plug it back in. Usually this works, but in times that it doesn't I have to also reset the modem connected to the router as well. The modem usually takes about 5 minutes to reboot and get everything working, and it also disconnects the phones too. I'm in a real-life situation where the phones can't go out for reasons I'd rather not explain, so I really dislike having to reboot the modem too.
So is this a router, modem, or even ISP problem? If it's a router problem, what's a router in a good price range ($50-$100?) that'll be better than this one?
What is the model of your current router?

Netgear WGR614v8
Sounds like a router problem. If you can't update the firmware of the router, then I'd suggest you buy a new one. I'm not sure what the best routers are, but I know CNET did a video of the best routers
use google's DNS servers instead

I actually was for a few days, but it went out again so I switched to 4.2.2.2 and it's doing just as good
