• Apple iPad to potentialy face sales ban in China.
Before starting to sell the iPad in China last year Apple attempted to trademark the name in the country, but that request was rejected since it was already owned by Shenzhen-based Proview Technology. Apple reached an agreement with the Taiwanese arm of the company for global rights to the moniker, but the Chinese unit, which owns the trademark in that particular country, wasn't so willing to hand over the deed. Apple sued, but the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court rejected Cupertino's claim to ownership earlier this week and now the iPad manufacturer finds itself on the wrong side of a battle over intellectual property rights. Proview Technology has targeted resellers in Shenzhen and Huizhou, demanding an immediate halt to the selling of the iOS tablet. If successful the company plans to expand its quest for an iPad ban to the rest of China. Obviously, Apple can (and likely will) appeal the decision, but we're interested to see how this one shapes up. Apple, you punked your self. Congratulations.
Looks like karma is hitting apple right back in the face.
china has copyrights??
china has copyrights??
yeah, everyone has a right to copy everyones work
first china, THEN THE REST OF THE WORLD. they deserve it, the way they have been patenting every single thing they look at and suing anyone who looks at them funny...
This is what you get when you try to patent/copyright absolutely everything.
If it iPad is banned from being soled in China, does this also affect manufacturing of the iPad itself due to it being made in the same country?
I love how they just mention it like "apple sued" and go into absolutely no further detail because of how often they're suing people now :v:
Change product name, problem solved?
yeah, everyone has a right to copy everyones work
Oh you jest :v:
If it iPad is banned from being soled in China, does this also affect manufacturing of the iPad itself due to it being made in the same country?
I'm actually curious about this myself
What about the Appel Stoer's Apid?
They will never change the name, they are apple, the iPad is their name and they will never let anybody think otherwise.
If it iPad is banned from being soled in China, does this also affect manufacturing of the iPad itself due to it being made in the same country?
I hope so. I hope the iPad dies. Actually I hope Apple dies. Death by suing, if everyone sued apple. Now that would be a tasty Apple crumble.
If it iPad is banned from being soled in China, does this also affect manufacturing of the iPad itself due to it being made in the same country?
No, it'd be just like meth - 100% legal to make, illegal to sell. Disclaimer: take this post seriously.
No, it'd be just like meth - 100% legal to make, illegal to sell.
So when cops raid a meth lab...they're just checking to see if they're selling?
So when cops raid a meth lab...they're just checking to see if they're selling?
The alternative of people making meth just to stockpile it falls under 'reasonable suspicion'
Apple trying to enforce it's patent empire everywhere in the world? Good luck getting anywhere with a country that doesn't give two shits about IP laws, shitbags.
I love how they just mention it like "apple sued" and go into absolutely no further detail because of how often they're suing people now :v:
Oh its Engadget what do you expect? Their writers are all Mac hipsters with no concept of reality anymore. (That and I'm almost certain they get paid off by Apple)
Then they have to make fake ones
This is such a karmafuck, Samsung must be throwing a party right around now while frantically screaming 'told you so'.
What about the Appel Stoer's Apid?
The Appel store sued Apple for copying their name and products, causing ban.
Oh its Engadget what do you expect? Their writers are all Mac hipsters with no concept of reality anymore. (That and I'm almost certain they get paid off my Apple)
Infinitely better than Gizmodo though. At least here in the US.
Infinitely better than Gizmodo though. At least here in the US.
Considering that all of Gawker (Kotaku, Gizmodo, etc) has the journalistic integrity of Fox News, that doesn't say a lot.
first china, THEN THE REST OF THE WORLD. they deserve it, the way they have been patenting every single thing they look at and suing anyone who looks at them funny...
That's a little unfair, Samsung has sued them quite a few times too, making them just as bad.
That's a little unfair, Samsung has sued them quite a few times too, making them just as bad.
i never expect to get punched back when i punch someone either.
Wait, Apple can sue a company for not wanting to work with them?
Just like the Chinese care. They'll just build their own.
So when cops raid a meth lab...they're just checking to see if they're selling?
And the fact that Meth Labs are literally bombs waiting to happen.
Holy shit Apple's gonna get hit hard if this ban goes through.
