* The inherent desire for change after one party occupies the White House for two-terms. * The unprecedented task of electing the first woman to the highest office in the land. * And the challenges of reassembling the coalition that elected President Obama twice. [...] We disqualified Donald Trump, making him unfit to be president * Exit polls show that 63% of voters do not believe Trump has the temperament to be president. * Exit polls also showed that he was the most unpopular nominee on Election Day of any candidate in modern history with a net favorability of -22 (38-60). [...] Our data also showed that we had strong support in the early vote and we’re poised to assemble a winning coalition of women, African-Americans, Latinos, AAPI, and college-educated white voters. But then everything changed in the last week. * Director Comey released his first letter 11 days out from the election, which likely helped to depress turnout among Hillary’s supporters. It made Sec. Clinton’s e-mail the focus of the campaign for half of the remaining 10 days. There is no question that a week from Election Day, Sec. Clinton was poised for a historic win. In the end, less than 110K votes out of tens of millions cast on Election Day made the difference in this race. It is worth noting that Jill Stein alone got 130K votes in those three states [...] * In the end, late breaking developments in the race proved one hurdle too many for us to overcome.
:hairpull:
Scientists baffled by one party's ability to fuck up every time. Can the Berniecrats not just kick these son of a bitches out. EDIT: while they're at it, can they kick out the GOP as well? They're to blame for not fucking uniting to at-least show SOME opposition to Trump instead of lying down and taking it.
Purge the DNC and reform it, get a left-wing Trump if you have to.

I thought we might have learned some lessons from the primary. But as you can tell from last night, probably not.” Less than 24 hours after the mood at the Clinton election night party at the Jacob Javits Convention Center turned from celebratory to funereal, aides wondered how they could have lost so badly, why they didn’t see it coming, and how the Democrat could have lost to Trump. One surrogate blamed the poor sampling models and analytics that the campaign was so reliant on. Clinton will blame Harambe for her inability to win at this rate.

Bernie Sanders, who previously led Clinton in the mostly white, progressive Bay State. The former president was spotted in the Newton Free Library in Newton, as well as the Holy Name gymnasium in West Roxbury—both polling locations. He was joined at the latter by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, a Clinton supporter. Oh of course, yes, that makes a lot more sense than the persistent alienation and demonization of the thirteen million registered democrats during and after the primaries That makes a lot more sense than the consistently divisive and combative tactics of the Clinton campaign That make a lot more sense than constantly driving away prospective voters by labeling them as white misogynist scum every time they raised concerns, criticisms, doubts, fears, or just didn't wholeheartedly embrace the idea of a Clinton presidency That makes a lot more sense than spending more time in closed door speeches and fundraisers with the political and financial elite than actually campaigning to prospective voters That makes a lot more sense than just smugly assuming that the establishment status quo candidate whose primary selling points were a vagina and not being Trump would be more than enough to carry her through to a landslide election so why bother trying to convince the people that this is the right candidate, we already know their vote! Complete and utter fucking prats
Even if we take it as true that, indeed, this was the killing blow to the campaign and it had nothing to do with all of the other stupid decisions made during the campaign, or all of the questionable things about Hillary Clinton's past, or all of the questionable things around the DNC, it still isn't Comey's fault. It is Hillary Clinton's fault for using an unsecured email server in the first place.
hillary not even have slogan how expect win
hillary not even have slogan how expect win
She did have a slogan, she just made it as narcissistic as the rest of her campaign was: "I'm With Her"
So much of her campaign was the fact she was a woman. I really don't understand the mentality that it somehow makes her more qualified for the position of POTUS. We live in a world were meritocracy is taking over. Not skin color, not gender. The merits of the candidate. And so much of this election was focused on race and sex it was retarded. I am totally willing to vote for a black Muslim woman for POTUS if she actually had the merits for the position. I don't care for anything else but the merits of the candidate. And Clinton, and Trump, didn't have it in my eyes. Bernie for instance did have it. Even though I am definitely on the libertarian side of things (believing in small, limit, government).
She did have a slogan, she just made it as narcissistic as the rest of her campaign was: "I'm With Her"
She really should have stuck with "Pokemon Go-to-the-polls." :v:

The US and the world could've had so much better than the shit they ended up with. He's right on the money here. Hillary didn't have a single issue voters could get riled up about. Her campaign was basically a bunch of (imo fairly okay, but) unexciting policies with no central cause like Sanders. He may have said "Millionaires and billionaires" more times than you can count, but his campaign - though it's been more than half a year since it ended - stands so much clearer in my head. "Simplistic" campaigns aren't necessarily bad as long the proposed solutions aren't.

I wonder if they know what Hubris means?
I'm actually genuinely curious to if Comey's letters had an effect on the campaign or not
I distinctly remember the FBI clearing Clinton with this new investigation. On top of that, Comey stuck to his word that if something new popped up, they would reopen the investigation. More of an unfortunate timing that it came when it did. Of course, everything else mentioned in this thread had a part as well. Perhaps next time the DNC won't push a bag of shit in the name of progression.

I'm not from America but I think Sanders just has that quality that Clinton so obviously lacked. He's genuine, he's passionate about his cause, and that cause promises not just change, but positive change. When I hear him talk about the issues people are facing and about forming progressive solutions to them, I genuinely get the feeling that this is a guy people could rally behind: "Yeah, this is the guy I'm supporting". Throughout the past election I *never* felt that about Clinton, the closest I felt was " fucking hell, definitely not this guy" towards Trump. In hindsight, it's not actually surprising that Trump won considering he had plenty of genuine supporters voting for him; whereas everyone ive spoken to about Clinton (both in my own country, and in America) only ever saw her as the lesser of two evils.
Their dumbest decision was running with Hillary.
I'm actually genuinely curious to if Comey's letters had an effect on the campaign or not
Whatever actually had the effect, Trump definitely had a surge in the last two weeks - he gained a lot of former third party supporters compared to Hillary iirc. Ultimately what made Hillary lose was Hillary being a shit candidate, and I guess you can choose to either see Comey's letter as inherent to her person or something more external. Had the election been held two weeks earlier, though, I think she would've won, but not hugely so.
I didn't, Bernie supporters are the thirteen million registered democrats I was talking about
ah okay I must have misread sorry
