Hello, so I just started my laptop up, I use it to play songs through my headphones whilst I play drums. Anyway, I switched it on and this is what appeared and the laptop didn't stop beeping throughout.

Laptop: Packard Bell EasyNote TJ65
OS: Windows 7 SP1
RAM: 4GB
CPU: Intel Pentium (not sure which sorry).
The only thing plugged into the laptop at the time when I turned it on was the charger (as it had just died) and a USB powering my headphones that's literally all I can think of. If it helps the headphones were also connected to the drum kit (the USB is for power and the 3.5mm jack is for audio therefore I used the laptop to power it as the drum kit cannot).
I'm not overly fussed about the laptop but I was just freaked out as I'd never seen anything like that before, I've tried googling it but all I can find is people with broken graphics cards, while I feel that isn't the case here.
Apologies if I missed anything, please ask.
Pretty sure the graphics is fucked here, yeah. That's what happens with budget laptops; they don't last very long. It's 6 years old though, so it's had a pretty good run I'd say.
Oh, I have the exact same laptop, and I've had the same problem as you one time. But I can't quite remember how I fixed it.
Does the artifacting happen as soon as you turn on the laptop?
Yeah as soon as I switch it on, I don't even see the POST, and it beeps around 10 times. It's stopped doing it now however.

Have you tried hooking up the laptop to an HDMI monitor/tv screen?
I haven't. I'll give that a go when I get in and see what happens. Everything appears to be fine now however.

It boots up fine?
Yeah appears to be booting fine now, any idea what the fuck it was so I can prevent it again?

Backup your data first.
Sounds like some connections are comming loose due to heat expansion.
Can you post the temperatures of your laptop when it has been heavily used for 10 minutes?
Use HWmonitor.

Like taipan said, backup your data, just in case. In my case, it only ever happened once, and it hasn't appeared since, so I have no idea how to prevent it.
I've backed everything up and I'll do a temperature test soon as I get in again, thanks.
The majority of low to mid range Intel laptops use integrated graphics which are p much bullet proof.
When they show weird ascii shit, it usually is the VRAM (shared with the main ram if it's integrated)
I do remember some SiS Graphics used to do a similar thing a few years ago, but it was only for a split second upon installing the drivers.
I don't think the laptop is "fucked"... You can take a look inside the laptop case and check if the screen wires are correctly fixed. Be carefull also to not damage hardware inside.
You should see a professionnal so he can confirm this.
If everything is fine inside, well, unfortunately, one or many graphic chips or other electronic componement could be damaged resulting to this weird display...
Still running fine, temperature is fine too. And it's not worth taking it anywhere in my opinion, I could check it myself but I literally use it to connect to my drums and play songs because my PC is on the other side of the room, thanks for all the help however!

Nah, if the LVDS cable was bad, it would be alot worse than that. You wouldn't get ascii characters either.
Thats a name I have not seen in such a long time: Packard Bell.
And yup if the LVDS was bad or became semi disconnected, the errors are a bit more uniformed across the screen in my experience. Either portions blacked out, verticle or horizontal striping, or one of the primary colors would be absent.
This problem can probably be fixed by a good ol reflow though.
That looks like the result of VRAM corruption. Chances are it's time to put that thing to rest.
My brother had the same laptop, and after 4 years, had artifacts similar to this.
