Donald Trump called NATO obsolete, predicted that other European Union members would follow the U.K. in leaving the bloc, and threatened BMW with import duties over a planned plant in Mexico, according to two European newspapers which conducted a joint interview with the president-elect. Trump, in an hourlong discussion with Germany’s Bild and the Times of London published on Sunday, signaled a major shift in trans-Atlantic relations, including an interest in lifting U.S. sanctions on Russia as part of a nuclear weapons reduction deal. Quoted in German by Bild from a conversation held in English, Trump predicted that Britain’s exit from the EU will be a success and portrayed the EU as an instrument of German domination designed with the purpose of beating the U.S. in international trade. For that reason, Trump said, he’s fairly indifferent to whether the EU stays together, according to Bild. The Times quoted Trump as saying he was interested in making “good deals with Russia,” floating the idea of lifting sanctions that were imposed as the U.S. has sought to punish the Kremlin for its annexation of Crimea in 2014 and military support of the Syrian government.
https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-01-15/trump-calls-nato-obsolete-and-dismisses-eu-in-german-interview
“For one thing, I think nuclear weapons should be way down and reduced very substantially, that’s part of it.’’
well, i'm glad to see him saying this at least
Why does everything Trump talks about these days, especially with regards to America turning its back on NATO and lifting sanctions on Russia, fit in perfectly with the items on Vladimir Putin's wishlist? All of the obstacles preventing Putin from attempting to militarily expand into Eastern Europe, Trump wants to get rid of. The guy Russia favoured when they interfered in the US election. Most curious.
Why does everything Trump talks about these days, especially with regards to America turning its back on NATO, fit in perfectly with the items on Vladimir Putin's wishlist?
Wrong question. What part of this doesn't fit with America's wish list?
Why does everything Trump talks about these days, especially with regards to America turning its back on NATO, fit in perfectly with the items on Vladimir Putin's wishlist?
Reducing nuclear armament is quite radically against the norm for Russia's plans. And Trump for that matter considering the talk last time we heard about him on this issue. Though I think he is happy to reduce nuclear armaments as long as were numbah one in that category somehow.
The last reset worked so well for Russia I can see them doing another
Actions speak louder than words.
I feel like this is the message we need to hold him to.
Reducing nuclear armament is quite radically against the norm for Russia's plans.
If by "quite radically against the norm for Russia," you mean literally the exact same thing that Russia has been doing for years besides the U.S, then I suppose so. https://www.state.gov/t/avc/newstart/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_START The United States ratified a new START treaty with Russia as recently as 2011. We have been actively reducing nuclear stockpiles in both nations for years now.
:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh:
What, have you never held two entirely conflicting beliefs before? [editline]d[/editline] I'm not making a joke or snipe here.
Trump predicted that Britain’s exit from the EU will be a success and portrayed the EU as an instrument of German domination designed with the purpose of beating the U.S. in international trade.
Brexit was and will continue to be an absolute fiasco, and the EU is not some German masterplan to seize control of Europe. Fucking hell, Trump, I'm starting to believe you actually want to see every other nation kneel and collapse in front of you.
Is it any surprise that his campaign strategy was to have as many schrodinger's policies as possible? His policies are basically there and not there a the same time. It's how he got more than 25% of the vote. This is how schrodinger's policy works: You say you support A. People who support A will join your cause. A month later, you say you don't support A. People who don't support A will join your cause. When you are questioned on whether or not you support A, you say some vague incomprehensible shit where people who support A say "I GUESS HE SUPPORTS A", and people who don't support A say "I GUESS HE DOESN'T SUPPORT A"
Some Trump supporters (even on here) admit that he's playing this game and don't mind because "Make America Great Again"
Yes, I know he didn't say he thinks Germany wants control over Europe, but let's be real, it's obviously implied. [editline]16th January 2017[/editline] muh merge
So in order to get this new nuclear deal done, we're just going to let them off the hook for the invasion of Ukraine, and that's okay. But the international community lets Iran trade heavy water and enriched uranium for natural uranium and people freak out?
snip
How the fuck do Trump supports criticize Hillary for being flipfloppy when Trump flipflops on FUCKING NUKES of all things.
What, have you never held two entirely conflicting beliefs before?
Not where nuclear weapons are concerned, no.
How the fuck do Trump supporters criticize Hillary for being flipfloppy when Trump flipflops on FUCKING NUKES of all things.
Massive amounts of cognitive dissonance. We need to add a mental gymnastics event to the Olympics.
Wrong question. What part of this doesn't fit with America's wish list?
what about you point out how this helps america, because im struggling to understand what you mean by this
What, have you never held two entirely conflicting beliefs before?
I ain't the president nor in a position of government. If I was, then my thoughts and beliefs would be a heavy weight that shapes the world around myself for better or worse for quite a period of time.
What, have you never held two entirely conflicting beliefs before? [editline]d[/editline] I'm not making a joke or snipe here.
I can only speak for myself, but I work to not do that as best I can
You must have been a big fan of Clinton's campaign then.
trump supporter deflects criticism at trump by making it about clinton, months after the election broken record

Not one republican was forced to explain why the iran deal was disastrous and horrible nor were they forced to lay out an alternative that would actually work.
Obama expanding surveillance over 8 years is mysterious and confusing to Chonch but Trump doing a 180 on nuclear proliferation after 3 weeks is crystal clear.
