Affleck would not take on this role unless he had some say in how this script turns out. He will have a strong hand at Warner Bros., which backed him on "The Town" and the Oscar-winning "Argo" and is invested in telling the town he's sticking around the studio. Affleck signed for multiple pictures. If this works out he'll have a major franchise to play with for years ahead. And a major studio where he can hang his hat, as his hero Clint Eastwood has done for decades.
Source Still not too excited about him landing the role of Batman but this is still some pretty good news. He's a far better director/writer than Goyer and Snyder.
Superman is literally the worst character ever.
Superman is literally the worst character ever.
This is about Batman for now, not Superman
Superman is literally the worst character ever.
Edgy.
Superman is literally the worst character ever.
The hulk is just as stupidly over powered and no one ever complains about him. Superman is an alright hero if you actually cared to read some of his comics / graphic novels.
Superman is literally the worst character ever.
Many of the complaints aimed at Superman can also roughly be applied to Batman. Superman's powers are incredibly well defined, but can be used for just about anything; whereas Batman's "powers" are just "I dunno, he came up with a machine to solve this" But then, I'm not a very big comic book fan, so maybe I've come off with the wrong impression.
I never did like DC because it's not based in the real world, and all the heroes aren't nearly as relatable as Marvel, or rather, make as much sense as its just, way too much fiction. Marvel is obviously very fictional, but DC just feels like an entirely different story in terms of fiction. It feels a little ridiculous at times. That being said, Batman is their best superhero.
Yeah when people say Superman is ridiculously strong, atleast he has a weakness. The hulk is just like, gragrararr you make me angry, you can't stop this.
People hate Superman yet the 1978 film (and sequel) pretty much began the entire genre as a respectable movie sector. If that never happened the Burton Batman film would have been a flop. It wasn't all that anyway.
Yeah when people say Superman is ridiculously strong, atleast he has a weakness.
To be fair, neither can die (depending on if we are to believe the Death and Return of Superman series), even if Superman has a weakness.
Superman can die though, he's not immortal, just extremely durable. Sure his Kryptonian physiology comes with some unique traits to help him survive like recovery coma to the extreme but beat him enough and he will die. Then there's magic, he's not weak to magic, he's weak to what magic does. For example if you had a sword that was enchanted to cut through anything, that effect would still apply to Superman, but the sword itself would have no inherent ability to kill him, just that specific spell. Or if you cast a spell to turn him into a frog, he'd turn into a frog. The amount of people that complain about the big blue guy is astounding considering the majority of them haven't read anything on him.

He has more to play off of in, for example, JLA than he did his own animated series. Particularly with Batman.
Edgy.
Why do people insist on using this word anytime someone has a post with an opinion they dont like or goes against the popular opinion FFS there is nothing "edgy" about that post
Comic book debates are ridiculous and pointless
Comic book debates are ridiculous and pointless
People argue about hobbies all the time. There's nothing pointless or ridiculous about it.
This is about Batman for now, not Superman
I don't know anything about Man of Steel 2 but I assumed that because Superman is the Man of Steel then the movie would be about him and Batman was a supporting character. I don't see why people are so mad about this. At first I wasn't too psyched and I can see why others aren't, after rampant speculation one of the stereotypical household name actors gets the part? But still, he's proven himself to be an excellent actor who has just done a few bad movies. Heath Ledger's done tons of shit movies, but his performance as the Joker was "universally acclaimed". I mean, Ben Affleck's won tons of awards for his acting and screenwriting, so I'm not sure why everyone is laughing at this choice so much. Argo, Good Will Hunting, The Town, and other films are just prime examples as to why this could work. And very well.
Superman's powers are incredibly well defined.
Lol, even to this day Superman's power limits are sketchy at best. In one book he can lift up the planet for 5 days straight and in another story he's struggling to lift an aircraft carrier. Same thing with his intelligence and personality. Although, in most modern Justice League stories, he's toned down quite a fair bit. On the other hand, Batman is tuned up to Batgod where nearly every problem could be solved via batgenius and the dreaded batkick that brought down the hulk (not kidding). I'll said it before but I'll said it again, the only DC character that came out fine, unscathed and strong into the modern era was Batman. Byrne's Superman did fairly well in its early years but then most of the 90s Superman was just garbage and y'know, Superman became synonymous with the image of the old crappy Superhero. All in all The Modern Age of Comics belongs to Marvel. They were overtaking DC from the late 70s anyway.
Yeah, the whole "I'M BATMAN!" thing is super cringey. If they use that as an excuse to fill a plot hole at all in the movie like everyone always says, I will honestly walk out of the cinema
Multiple movies? I don't think they should put too much focus on Batman considering the Dark Knight trilogy just finished We'll see how it turns out
I've got no problem with him directing at all. He's a much better actor than he used to be, but I just don't see him as being very imposing.
If he fucks around with the script and makes it worse, than I will be pissed.

The dude is 6'3 and around 200lbs for most of his career. He's a big dude, you've just mostly probably seen him in some foppish roles. And now he's training (and probably roiding) he's literally going to be the most physically imposing actor to play Batman.
At least the script will be pretty decent.
If he fucks around with the script and makes it worse, than I will be pissed.
Worse? He's literally one of the best writer-directors in hollywood at the moment. Him being involved in the creative process is only a good thing
ben affleck is supercool what are you bitches bitching about he co-wrote good will hunting

Just a grey kevlar body suit with a black cape. In all the batman films (except for the corny 60s one), Batman is wearing a black rubber suit molded to look like muscles. Ben Affleck is one of the few actors in hollywood that actually has a super hero physique. They just need to get a good costume designer so that the it has the right color and texture.
I'd like to see a grey bodysuit, but tbh theres probably a reason each iteration of batman the costume designers have gone with a black bodysuit the grey kevlar just probably doesnt work on screen as well as it does on a comic panel

I designed that security system myself, how did you crack it?" "I'm Batman." But if they covered up something that should have been a whole scene, like: "Batman! How did you beat up these 50 giant dudes by yourself?" "I'm Batman." Then it wouldn't really work. Moderation is the key.
