I have steam on a 74 GB harddrive and the steam games take up most of the hardrive,Gmod takes over 40 GB by itself i only have about 1GB free on that hardrive now. So Here is what im asking, I also have a 30 GB hardrive and was wondering if i buy a new game from steam could i install it and put it in the 30 GB harddrive and still run it on steam? (witch is on the 74GB harddrive) I don't know if the question is clear enough but if it needs be i will further explain.
You either install all games on one the 74GB or 30GB hard drive. Can't install some on the 30GB one. Unless you can install Steam two times maybe?
You can only run games on the hard drive with the steam directory I think.
Uhh, 40 gb for gmod? What the fucking shit man.
Nope, you might be able to find a way to "reference" directories. I believe Win6 and 7 are able to do this. Win 5 is not.
Well if im buying it off of steam and move the folder to the 30GB and its not a game made by valve could i take the game folder and move it to 30GB and just add a shortcut in steam? I want to but Company of Heroes but cant find it in stores so i wanted to buy it off steam but the steam hardrive has no space. :frown: So yeah if I buy CoH of steam and move the CoH folder to the 30GB harddrive can I use the add non steam game function? I want to know before I buy it on steam so that i dont have to delete any games to be able to play.
Gmod takes over 40 GB by itself
What, how?
I did a little research and it seems like you pretty much cannot have your steam games on more than on harddrive, sorry bro.
What, how?
Addons, addons everywhere.

It would be messy, but use symbolic links. Install the game, but then move the games folder to the other HDD and create a symlink pointing to it.
Loading GM_Flatgrass must take hours.
About 20 - 40 minutes. With luck I have found the only copies company of heroes and opposing fronts were I live,I just cleared some space on my 30 gb harddrive and all is good.
why would you wait that long :colbert:
Because Gmod is good. :v:
I'd get bored waiting.

NTFS Junction Links. Learn them, love them. Junction links are like detours, you can set them up so that when steam looks for your game's folder, it'll told to look elsewhere, like the other hard drive. It is completely transparent to programs. http://www.rekenwonder.com/linkmagic.htm Basically, move the games to the other hard drive then make a junction link.
