CPU: 4GB RAM, W7 Ultimate x64. Don't know what else you need to know, though I can provide additional information. I do enough gaming to warrant an upgrade. Money is not an issue unless we're talking about some overkill $600 card.
either way, do give us a budget
$250 - $300? I haven't kept up with new video cards and prices and stuff like that in recent times so I don't know how much a solid card is.
5870/GTX 470 What is your PSU model, monitor resolution, and games you will play?
psu?
5870/GTX 470
This. If you are getting the 5870, wait until the 6XXX series come out first.
5870/GTX 470 What is your PSU model, monitor resolution, and games you will play?
1. NZXT and I think it's 600 watts or whatever. It was donated from a friend, I can upgrade if I have to. 2. 1920x1080. 3. I don't get too crazy with games. I've had my fun with Mafia 2, I load up GTA IV every once in a while, some source games (TF2 and CSS are notables), Borderlands OBVIOUSLY, and I've been playing Starcraft 2 a lot. I would like something mildly-futureproof for the next year or two, then I think I'm going to retire this PC and build a new one.
psu?
PSU please. [editline]11:57AM[/editline]
1. NZXT I think. It was donated from a friend, I can upgrade if I have to. 2. 1920x1080. 3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017 That's a good PSU
Corsair and OCZ are the best PSU brands. Maybe antec?
Corsair, XFX, Antec and OCZ are all good, also Enermax and PC Power & Cooling
Corsair and OCZ are the best PSU brands. Maybe antec?
no, Enermax and PC P&C > all, Corsair is third best with Seasonic/Antec close behind and the rest are pretty much the same except for the absolute shit stuff like NZXT and Logisys
Also Odellus, which one is better, Enermax or PC P&C?
Nothing wrong with NZXT PSU
Nothing wrong with NZXT PSU
He doesn't know what model it is. OP, could you open up your case and tell us a model or wattage?
Also Odellus, which one is better, Enermax or PC P&C?
after reading around a little bit, Enermax is
no, Enermax and PC P&C > all, Corsair is third best with Seasonic/Antec close behind and the rest are pretty much the same except for the absolute shit stuff like NZXT and Logisys
Don't forget silverstone. Silverstone makes great PSUs.
Don't forget silverstone. Silverstone makes great PSUs.
not really, I put them on the same level as OCZ. They're good but not great
not really, I put them on the same level as OCZ. They're good but not great
heresy, the 1500w silverstone modular is the nicest power supply I have ever worked with. Not on my build though, friends build and happily powering sli 480's oc'ed no problem [editline]01:12AM[/editline] No hiccups either
heresy, the 1500w silverstone modular is the nicest power supply I have ever worked with. [editline]09:46PM[/editline] sum of the parts
He doesn't know what model it is. OP, could you open up your case and tell us a model or wattage?
I'll edit with a model in a few minutes but I believe it's 600 wattage.
not really, I put them on the same level as OCZ. They're good but not great
not quite enermax or pc p&c but they easily are even with Corsair
I'll edit with a model in a few minutes but I believe it's 600 wattage.
600 Watt NZXT? Sounds ok. [editline]09:20PM[/editline] So GTX 470/ 5870. You could wait for the Ati 6000 series in November I believe.
Dude man, you're wasting your money. 4850 is fine for right now. My 4850 hasn't had a problem with anything, ever. I guess if you have 300-ish bucks to blow on a graphics card that gets you an extra 5fps then go for it. :rolleye:
you're an idiot
4850 is still a good card and can handle almost anything
Look at his resolution. 4850 is underpowered for that.
I've played games fine on an 8800 GTX at 1920x1200
that's not even the point, you pay more for graphics cards to get more performance. If that wasn't the case we wouldn't have 50 different graphics cards from each company
