Videos in 30 FPS?

I see alot of YouTube videos that is so smooth, the gameplay is so smooth, i've heard alot of people record at 30 fps.

I tried recording Rust with Dxtory today on 30 FPS @ 1080p
The video FPS was locked to 30 FPS, so it should look normally fine in 30 FPS, but i found it really laggy and choppy,
since i can't record 60 FPS @ 1080p i just wonder, does most gameplays on YouTube get recorded in 60 FPS? or 30 FPS but with a sort of enhancement?

Even though i know that YouTube renders the videos at 30 FPS, it seems like a couple of videos are super smooth 60 FPS looking, but still recorded at 30 FPS?
I really don't understand how it's like this, really need someone to explain, does it depend on your hard drives speed? your CPU?

Don't lock at 30 then. Will look smoother for you but the video might look slightly worse.

If you recording with Fraps, your hard drive speed will make a huge impact on the apparently smoothness of the video. If your really pushing your PC, it can hurt framerate as well.

The uploader could have added motion blur via post production means. Example of the "smooth" video?

30FPS seems a lot worse when you're actually playing than when just watching a video that's 30fps, since you have to react to it.

Alternatively, if you have an nVidia card (600 series or higher I believe), you can try ShadowPlay.

Having consistent frametimes goes a long way to making 30fps feel really smooth. It's also possible they recorded at 60 and blended down to 30 which would make things feel smooth too.

Record at 60 fps (or really anything greater than 30 if your PC cannot handle 60) then convert to 30 with motion blur

I believe Vegas will do this automatically, given 60 fps input
