Sup guys,
So I figured I'd post this here because you guys might like it, this is a Choose Your Own Adventure maker!
Here's how it works:
There are three files in the rar file.
-CYOA Editor.exe: This lets you make your own Choose Your Own Adventures.
-Choose Your Own Adventure.exe: This lets you run the Choose Your Own Adventures that people have made.
-myAdventure.cyafile: A sample adventure.
I don't know if you guys will like this or not, but give it a shot?
Hey, cool. Checking this out man, thanks for the link. I was actually looking for something like this a while back!
Hey, you again. What framework does it run on?

.NET 4.0 I'll change it as soon as I can access the computer with the source. Sorry, it slipped my mind.

Thanks, I may work on a GUI(in visual basic lolol), but any comments?
I've got to install .Net 4.0 first, I'll let you know what I think of it once I've got it running.

Sorry about that, to my KNOWLEDGE it doesn't require .NET 4.0, but I have to change that option before compiling and I don't have access to the laptop with the source code right now. But hey, you should have .NET 4.0 anyways.
Pretty nice. It'd be better if it was online though (or is it, was I just the first to run it?). It's not that fun to make, then read your own stories. Lots of facepunchers seem to be doing this since I did the same thing in PHP.
Why is it that on the editor it just lists Page 1, Page 2.etc and not the title?

There are no page titles right now :V

And besides, it makes it easier to link choices that way.

Not really. It's a lot less organised. Also how do you actually save your story in the editor?

File->Save...
Probably it's just that I'm stupid, but I'm having some trouble figuring this out: Whenever I add a new page and try to continue the story, the text always defaults to that of whatever was in the "text" field on the first page! If I click "edit page" and change the text, it simply resets itself as soon as I leave the page.
Also, "Delete Page" doesn't actually delete any pages.
I did it sillily(lolword)
How it works is this:
you type in text to the "page" field, and THEN click "add page". To edit a page, click its page number in the list on the left, edit the text and then click "edit page". I'll fix this later, sorry!
It's the same with choices.
Might be nice to have a "Chapter" section. For instance "Jump to Page #, Chapter #"
Could make it easier to organize the story, once you start getting far into it. For instance, one major decision would lead into Chapter X, the other would lead into Chapter Y. The beginning of each chapter would start the page numbers back over at 1.
That'll take some work. I may do it once I get to the source.
Actually, more organizational options in general are needed. Even making only two or three choices per page is starting to get out of hand.
How so?
Page one spawns page 2 and 3 with two choices. Each of those pages spawns two more pages with their choices, and each of THOSE spawn two more, then finally maybe they all link together again. Here's a visual representation of what I'm talking about, with each page represented by an "x":
x
x x
x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
x
That's only a total of six decisions for the reader to make, which isn't very much. If the player is to have the illusion of choice and freedom, the game designer needs to give him plenty of choices to make, and each of those should in some way affect the outcome of that particular arc. You can see how it could get pretty confusing for the designer to navigate all those pages, especially once he starts getting into longer arcs.
What would you suggest
:buddy: made one

What other people said about this is really all I have trouble with, like when I edit a page I sometime forget the weird steps I have to take to edit it I copy it and save any edits in a notepad file with the page, choices and where the choices go to what page. but I would like to see other versions come out, other than that I love this. Something to play around with in my free time.

Making the navigation more visual would help alot. Perhaps if it were organized like a standard "Tree" chart, as in those charts used for family trees and whatnot? They're perfect for organizing large amounts of split data.

I'm not entirely sure how to code a tree chart v:v:v
Yeah a tree chart would make it so much easier.
Why not do what I did with my site and integrate the editor into the reader and on each part add a button to add options?
I'll pm you my site if you want to take a look at how I did it. Of course it's different, but the basic idea should still be the same.
Glitchy, and hard to use.
You should make a Create your own MSPA.
That'd be nice, so you don't have to periodically make new drawings, and that way you don't have to make people wait. If someone does pick enough of an option not supplied, I guess you'd just have to scratch one up.
