I'm looking for a free forum service, I've searched but I seem to find rather crappy ones. I know I should not expect the best out of the free sites, but I'd like to get the best I can find. I'm looking for a simple one, without too much annoying crap.

He said free. Invision power board hasn't been free since version 1.3. You don't want to use 1.3 either, unless you're a php/SQL guru and can find and patch all of the exploits.
There are several free forum systems, one being PHPBB, or if you want a CMS, e107 or PHP-Fusion.
And don't forget the shitty old SMF

Never heard of InvisionFree (now ZetaBoards)?
Forumotion and Forumer are good, but they dont offer the level of customization that hosting one with a company such as 000webhost would offer.
