19-year-old Riverton resident Shayla Wiggins found the dead body floating in the Wind River this morning around 8:40 a.m. She's living with her mom Shawna Wiggins at the B&K Trailer Park for part of the summer.
Shayla tells County 10 that she woke up this morning and began playing a game on her cell phone called Pokemon Go, a virtual reality game that encourages the user to capture as many pokemons as possible. "The Pokemon are all over Riverton," she said. Shayla showed County 10 the game on her cellphone which displayed a map of Riverton where these Pokemons are located.
"I was trying to get a Pokemon from a natural water resource," she explained. She said that she jumped over the fence to go towards the river in search of a Pokemon.
"I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water," Shayla said. "I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body." She said the figure was floating about three feet from the shore and it looked like an average size male body. She reports that she thinks the man was native, but she can't be certain. She saw a black shirt and black pants. All of the body was reportedly submerged except for part of his back and butt.

Makes me wonder if a friend of mine finding a Ghastly at his fast food workplace means anything.

Its gorden ramsey commenting on the cooking arts with a "ghastly" comment manifesting in a pokemon
Oh shit.
Pokemon Go is making kids rediscover the wonders of going outside
My area sucks for this game. The only Pokestop I saw was at the community water towers on a rural road. Like, unless you pull over to the shoulder and stand at the fence I doubt you could actually get at it and need less to say I didn't do all that for an app game.
I feel like there are going to be a lot of interesting stories in this vein as more people take up Pokemon Go.
"Man stumbles on cocaine drop while playing Pokemon Go"
"Cop finds meth lab while playing Pokemon Go off-duty"
"Girl saved from rape by passerby who was playing Pokemon Go"
This game's release is getting better and better

Ah yes, I remember the good ol' days of my childhood, cannonballing into the lake while camping with my family only to come up with a dismembered hand up my shorts.
I want a remake of Stand By Me where they all go on a journey to find a dead body while playing Pokemon GO.

Wouldn't it be more consistent if it was just them going to find the Pokemon?
how fucked up would it be if a diglett popped out of the corpse's chest
I hope this doesn't happen, but I feel like someone is going to get killed while plaything this game.

Tell me about it, the only local training center is at the local school.
How am I gonna explain having my car parked next to the school and pointing my phone at it's bus stop full of children? :tinfoil:

Already happened;

Someone fell off a bridge while trying to catch a pokemon.
The one thing that would make this worse would be if she found the dead body, and promptly encountered a Yamask. Oh yeah, that'd make for some nightmare fuel if you've ever read its Pokedex entries.
What's the big deal? All she found was a ghost-type Pokemon.
Fucking knew it :v:.
Now how long until Soccer moms get pissy about this?

Nintendo is fucking retarded for allowing pokemon to be near roads.
Even if this is fake, the point still stands. There's a new meta for catching pokemon, and it's driving around the city until you find one. There are no reports of people for getting pulled over for doing this, or accidents, but there are a few recordings on youtube of people behind the wheel catching pokemon.
Pokemon Go is already iconic, Nintendo had bridged video games and real life in an absolutely insane way. The game itself isn't that interesting honestly, but it's fueling crazy real world narratives which is really cool.
Think of it this way, people are going on real world adventures for this game. And perhaps in the future they won't remember or care about the Pokemon they caught, but they can remember the timer they went on a journey and perhaps the people they went with. That was the heart of the series. That's fucking cool
Hopefully i won't need to move around to catch pokemon. I have two portal right at my doorstep in ingress after all

If you're on android, you can fake your gps and travel around the world from the comfort of your home. No idea if you can get banned for it, so be careful I guess.

Ingress banned GPS spoofing
not through detection, but through irregularities
