Police have appealed for information about a blue Volkswagen Sharan found crashed at the scene. It has also emerged that the victim and his father were arrested in connection with other offences earlier this month. Mr Abdi, who police have now confirmed had been shot, was found lying close to the crashed blue people carrier just after 01:00 BST on Sunday. A second man was found injured after what police said was "a series of related incidents". Detectives have said it is now a cross-border investigation and they have widened their inquiry within the capital. Mr Abdi and his father, Omar, both members of Edinburgh Central Mosque, appeared in court on earlier charges after being detained by police at their home in the Leith area of the capital this month.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-22687683 This is literally 2 blocks from where I live, this is actually kind of scary. There was a massive police cordon, and the police are still on the search for more suspects involved.
Oh shit, I live down the road from Edinburgh. EDIT Wait, re-read it, I'm not used to people being shot in a city I visit regularly.
Oh shit, I live down the road from Edinburgh.
oh shit i'm so sorry for your loss
My dad was talking about this, guess one of his cop buddies was their. My dad probably would've, too, but he's been in sick leave.
Read it as Malcolm Ali being shot and got reeeeaaaaaal confused.
Oh snap, I used to live a mile away from where this happened.
oh man i went to edinburgh once
I looked at Edinburgh on a map once
I never been to Edinburgh ever.
What is an Edinburgh
Drove past the street yesterday and was wondering what the fuck is going on. Don't live far away from it either.
Who the hell is this guy They name him like he's some FBI Most Wanted or something
Another insident of racist/islamphobic cops taking a young mans for no good reason. (User was banned for this post ("replied without reading" - postal))
Another insident of racist/islamphobic cops taking a young mans for no good reason.
You didn't even read the article. He wasn't killed by police. It's funny how in your great noble stand against bias and ignorance you prove yourself to be the biased, ignorant one.
Another insident of racist/islamphobic cops taking a young mans for no good reason.
yeah except he was killed in a gang shooting by gang members and the cops weren't involved. mentioning "standoff with police" in the title is incredibly misleading since it refers to a completely seperate incident
Another insident of racist/islamphobic cops taking a young mans for no good reason.
so this invite system isn't working too well
oh shit i'm so sorry for your loss
I thought Edinburgh was the nicer part of Scotland?
I thought Edinburgh was the nicer part of Scotland?
It's just the capital
I thought Edinburgh was the nicer part of Scotland?
It is the nicer part. People are just exaggerating.
oh man this effects me more than it would most people because i only live about an 8 hour drive from this, i thought i mightve actually heard the gun shots im currently bording up my home if i dont make regular updates its because i'm dead
It is the nicer part. People are just exaggerating.
b-but aberdeen
I've been to Edinburgh. [sp]It wasn't too bad; there were hot Scottish girls giving out hugs[/sp]
b-but aberdeen
Compare it Glasgow and Dundee and Edinburgh is a nicer part of Scotland :P
I thought Edinburgh was the nicer part of Scotland?
If you stay in the city centre, yes.
If you stay in the city centre, yes.
There are some nice areas on the outskirts. Not many but there are some.
I've been to Edinburgh. It wasn't too bad; there were hot Scottish girls giving out hugs
going there for uni next year. hoping this will be more representative of my time there than someone getting arrested after a stand-off. [editline]29th May 2013[/editline] i live in hope
~glasgow pride~ oh wait
I still don't see the point of saying "oh its near [ where you live ]"
b-but aberdeen
S'where I call home and it's the best of all cities in Scotland, imo.
I still don't see the point of saying "oh its near [ where you live ]"
Because you don't really expect this sort of thing where you live.
