The prospects of a PC version of GTA 5 appear to be in a terrifying state of flux. After seeming to be a dead cert earlier this year, doubts emerged when the game’s posters confirmed only a console release. Now asked directly about a PC version by IGN, Rockstar’s Dan Houser would no more commit to that platform than he would Wii U. A potential PC version is only “up for consideration,” he said. “That’s all I can give you. The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market.” So, uh, does that mean there’s an appropriate business opportunity on PC, then? Houser didn’t say. He did however say that the current geriatric generation of creaking console hardware is ample enough to see out their creative intentions. “Some other people talk about the limitations of the [current] hardware. We don’t feel there are that many limitations. We feel we can do some very impressive stuff and do it for a large audience. This felt like the way… There’ll be a much larger audience on PS3 than there will be on PS4.” Erp. What worrying words. Here’s hoping Houser’s just being cagey.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/19/gta-5-pc-version-merely-up-for-consideration-says-rockstars-dan-houser/ You heard it here first folks! There might not be a GTA 5 for the PC.
I'll buy it on the xbox regardless, because even though I would be pissed if they didn't release a PC copy I really can't just not play the game for that reason. GTA has always been a good time, and I really can't see them fucking this one up.
Misleading title.
The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. That's just pretty shitty and honestly a bit saddening.
Why? Both Max Payne and LA noir were profitable on the PC and every other GTA game (Besides the DS ones and such) were on PC. I do have console but I would really prefer to be able to play this on my favorite platform.
Why the hell would they not make one for the PC, he's just saying he doesn't want people assuming things, that's all.

Who are just PC gamers :c (I seriously do not own any gaming console) I will really feel sad if GTA 5 will not come for the PC. And if Rockstar blames the pirates for it not coming to the PC.
You can look it up: They have a habit of releasing on PC around 8 months after the console release. Didn't start with GTA IV, isn't anything new. I wouldn't worry too much.
I'm not sure I want GTA 5 for PC after what they pulled with 4. Texbook case of awful PC porting, and cripplingly bad DRM. GFWL and a non functional 'rockstar social club'. I found it completely impossible to play my legitimate copy.
There isn't anything in the article saying "no pc version stop saying there is" He's saying it's possible, and are looking to see if they can make it proper. After all the patches it took to make GTA IV right, with the Rage engine, maybe they just can't make it work on PC.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
You can look it up: They have a habit of releasing on PC around 8 months after the console release. Didn't start with GTA IV, isn't anything new. I wouldn't worry too much.
They all said thst about Red Dead and look what happened.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
Why? This bullshit is developed on a PC, and uses methods that can be easily integrated to accommodate for PC and make loads of profit.
its this discussion all over again!
It sounds like he doesn't want to confirm or deny anything.
That quote more insinuates he thinks PC gamers don't make much of a market.
Do we really care? We have Saints Row III, and it doesn't use GFWL (lol GTAIV). A GTAV port would probably be piss poor and break records for terrible PC ports.
If GTA V came to the PC and Wii U idk which one I'd get it for. Probably both.
Why? This bullshit is developed on a PC, and uses methods that can be easily integrated to accommodate for PC and make loads of profit.
ROI is higher on consoles than it is PC, from a marketing perspective PC ROI will be lower due to things like piracy.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
Ignorant as fuck
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
You only remember it on consoles because you only played it on consoles. If it were a PC exclusives there would be much more butthurt.
I would take a sluggish port to PC than no PC version at all Damnit Rockstar yall better pull through on this shit
Do we really care? We have Saints Row III, and it doesn't use GFWL (lol GTAIV). A GTAV port would probably be piss poor and break records for terrible PC ports.
Saints row 3 is pretty different from GTA. And the max payne 3 port was very good from what I hear. I would be more than willing to give them a second chance, especially for GTAV...
Why? This bullshit is developed on a PC, and uses methods that can be easily integrated to accommodate for PC and make loads of profit.
all games are developed on a pc Just because it's developed on a PC doesn't mean it's developed using language and assets that run on a PC. As far as I'm aware the developers throw the development builds onto the target console to test them. It's not like they test the game on the PC then put it onto the Xbox and then delete the PC version and then port the Xbox version back to PC
Do we really care? We have Saints Row III, and it doesn't use GFWL (lol GTAIV). A GTAV port would probably be piss poor and break records for terrible PC ports.
I have a hard time comparing the two. Saints Row III is a lot more whacky and zany; things that would take you hours of play in GTAIV is given to you immediately in SRTT, and from there it keeps raising the bar. It takes refuge in audacity, whereas GTAIV generally tries to play it straight and goes for a serious, darker, and grittier (albeit a very highly caricatured,) representation of crime in the city. (For the record, I enjoyed SRTT loads more than I enjoyed GTAIV so there's that.)
Do we really care? We have Saints Row III, and it doesn't use GFWL (lol GTAIV). A GTAV port would probably be piss poor and break records for terrible PC ports.
lol this guy is implying SR3 holds a candle to any GTA game. what a kidder
Why? This bullshit is developed on a PC, and uses methods that can be easily integrated to accommodate for PC and make loads of profit.
Rage, engine being used in GTA V, isn't meant for PC's. It was designed with consoles in mind. GTA IV was sluggish cause the port along with the engine got fucked up, leaving the game to get fucked over. Rockstar had the worst time fixing GTA IV with patches.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
Well regardless of your selective memory, they've all been on PC up until this point
I hate Rockstar.
Do we really care? We have Saints Row III, and it doesn't use GFWL
it doesnt have GFWL, you're right about that unfortunately the game sucks
