Thought you guys would like this. I managed to snag an old Apple Extended Keyboard from school and am excited to use it (Waiting for the Griffin iMate to arrive). The old keyboard is what is referred to as a "Mechanical Keyboard" as apposed to a rubber membrane keyboard that are current popular. The new apple keyboard uses scissor type, which allows for the slim design. The old keyboard is clicky, feels more firm and has a tactile feel when you press the keys. The caps lock key is pretty nifty, when you press it, the key stays down. This means you can feel that the key is pressed in addition to noticing the light. I prefer the new ones simply because they feel like my MacBook Pro's keyboard which feels good. I just wish they would all have the damned numpad on them. However until I got my MacBook, I used only one keyboard throughout my life: An Apple Pro Keyboard from 2000 that came with my iMac. It was clear and dark green and it was fantastic.

Even though I'm an IBM Model M fanboy, I have to say that 86's Apple keyboard looks awesome.
I forgot to add, though it's extremely easy to clean. You take out 4 phillips screws from the back and pull the top off. From there the PCB and the connectors are easily accessible and lift right out (No screws to take out), leaving you with two halfs of the plastic shell.
Hmm, i have two or three of these.
I'm selling my desktop soon, and was thinking of getting an Apple keyboard and mouse for my Macbook Pro. My logitech wireless just isn't as accurate as I'd like. Would you guys recommend them?
Even though I'm an IBM Model M fanboy, I have to say that 86's Apple keyboard looks awesome.
IBM Model M :fap:
IBM Model M :fap:
Had an IBM model M, but after getting finger fatigue writing an essay I switched to a cherry MX blue keyboard. God damn, it is amazing.
I got the same keyboard but it has Avid and ProTools keycaps. They feel unnecessarily large.

I'd rather using the 1986 one. Mechanical keys, fuck yeah. The shallow soulless keys from recent apple keyboards disappoint me greatly. Also, the lack of numpad is a no-go for me.

wouldn't be fairer/wiser to compare the old one with the current full keyboard, rather than the mini keyboard?

Can you use an apple keyboard on a pc?
yeah
