If the US were to supply "lethal military assistance" to Ukraine, the semi-autonomous region in southern Russia would send "the most modern weapons to Mexico" to prompt the resumption of negotiations on "US-annexed territories that now house […] California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and a part of Wyoming," reports the Moscow Times, citing a statement released by the speaker of the Chechen Parliament. Mexico ceded the region to the United States in an 1848 treaty, ending the Mexican-American War. In exchange, the United States paid Mexico $15m (£10m), as well as taking on $3.25m in debt the Mexican government owed US citizens. In the 1853 Gadsden Purchase, the United States bought the remaining areas of what are now New Mexico and Arizona for $10m.
Of course though, there's no serious threat in this because it goes against the Russian legislature, but holy shit why say this at all.
what are the relations between the US and Chechnya like? I know they don't like us very much but I thought they'd hate Russia more
what are the relations between the US and Chechnya like? Too late motherfuckers we already beat you to it.

What's Mexico going to do with the weapons? I don't think anybody there is delusional enough to try anything with the USA [editline]26th March 2015[/editline] And I don't think the USA is stupid enough to want to annex Mexico :v:
Chechnya, what the fuck are you doing?
I thought mexico and us are on somewhat ok standing? Not counting the whole immigration and purposefully giving weapons to their cartels.

Hopefully it won't amount to anything, but if Russia were ever to enact some sort of proxy war, it'd strangely make a bit of sense for them to try and turn Mexico against them, since they share a border and wouldn't have to cut through other countries. That said however, a land invasion from Mexico would run into a big ol' lead-slinging stumbling block by the name of Texas and the Second Amendment (and that's WITHOUT the homeland military), so it's probably never gonna happen even if Chechnya somehow DID send advanced armaments into Mexico. If anything those guns would just end up collecting dust in the arsenals of cartel barons.
mexico is just gonna stand there with the weapons wondering what the hell to do with it
Besides, Mexican gangs already have weapons close to military grade anyway, so it's not like more would make much of a difference.
mexico is just gonna stand there with the weapons wondering what the hell to do with it
"Hey those people north of me REALLY like guns..."
So Chechnya is going to give Mexico Beretta 92 clones made entirely out of wood and anti-material rifles made of plumbing parts? Those are the most modern weapons Chechnya has after all.
do they legit think mexico is sitting on the edge of their seat waiting to invade the US?
Go ahead, have they seen Texas? That states been paranoid Mexico's going to attack them for decades
Where have I heard this story before... Oh, right. The weapons are probably about as modern as the ones from then too.
I know it might be a hard concept to understand in Chechnya, but there are regions in the world where neighbour-states are not constantly at each-other's throats.
mexico is just gonna stand there with the weapons wondering what the hell to do with it
It might actually be good for mexico. they could use them against the cartels.
It's also, why arm Mexico when they're already pretty scary. This is their special forces And this is what it's like to take down a drug cartel
Haha the chechens are going to arm mexican cartels? The american government already armed them. They're doing them a favor
Chech-nya has always been hilarious and scary at the same time. It's essentially a small rogue state inside a state pretending to be good just to suck money out of Russia. Of course they would say anything to show their loyalty to Moscow and get some presents instead.
Chech-nya
How is it actually pronounced? That's how I would say it but thats only because I've heard it said in western media before like that. How do actual Russians pronounce it?
Pretty damn sure Mexico could supply Chechnya with some better weapons than Moscow can.
i think the US state department should call their bluff and praise the chechnyans for offering to help combat the drug cartels in mexico
Yeaaaahhhhh see Germany already tried that during the First World War with the Zimmerman Telegram (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimmermann_Telegram) and that didn't end very well for them. Cut it out. If a global superpower of the Imperial era couldn't do it, a tiny little rogue state definitely can't do it. [editline]26th March 2015[/editline] Actually come to think of it, the Mexican government would probably be okay with free munitions.
what are the relations between the US and Chechnya like? I know they don't like us very much but I thought they'd hate Russia more
Well, it's a weird one. USA was going to fund their rebel groups to help aid them to fight for independence from Russia but that fell through. Now, Chechnya has a more pro-russian legislature (that are actually from Moscow) who basically don't represent the Chechen people.
That'd make mexicans chechens by association, and at that point /k/'s wet dream would become a frightening reality
Cartels 30 minutes away
Such statement is nothing but a good reason to laugh rather then to be concerned seriously. They know, we know it, and most certainly Mexico knows. Althought this could be used in some future CoD.
