• Looking for advice about universities in Canada.

I'm coming to the age now where I'm looking at options for the future, like, where am I going to go for university? I currently live in the UK, but I've wanted to live in Canada for quite a few years. So, I'm wondering, what are the universities in Canada like? I am looking to study computer science/software development or graphic design. I've heard that for computer science, the University of Toronto and U of Waterloo are the best places to look, although I've also heard standard of universities are uniform throughout Canada, so it doesn't really matter where I go. I also want to know whether I would be required to speak French to go to any of these universities (I have completed French at GCSE, but I'm not exactly fluent in it) Am I better off staying in the UK, or would I do well going to Canada to study? What are the universities like? Which are the best? Is there anything available to help travel/lodging/study costs? What is life like in Canada? (Mainly job opportunities etc.) Where is the best place to live? (This might start a few arguments but whatever, I need opinions :) ) I've done research in to these, but I need someone who has experience of these Unis to give me a better picture. You can't really get an accurate picture from the university's website, because they're all trying to sell themselves to you, I need an honest opinion. Thanks for reading this (if you have, that is) and any help is appreciated.
for what you want to study waterloo is your best choice i know people who are in comp sci as well as people in computer engineering who go to waterloo, anything computer related/engineering based waterloo should be your only choice (if you have the marks to get in) you don't need to speak french for any university i go to Mcmaster btw good luck

That and the school is nothing but asians. The good thing is Laurier isn't too far and they usually have some good parties.
I was looking at their international study program, and it says you have to study for 3 years at your home university - is that true for all unis? I'd be looking to study for the full course at Waterloo (or any other uni really) I don't want to split my studies over 2 unis, let alone 2 countries.
UT (University of Toronto) University of Waterloo (for all your engineering needs) Queens/McGill Western/UBC York University (not preferred, they might go on strike again) (how i know?: I'm Canadian )
Don't come, it's too cold But to contribute, best place to live imo would be anywhere in BC
One of my good friends is currently attending Waterloo for computer science. Waterloo is known for being a very reputable University if you want to get into the comp sci field.
You should go to Quebec for University. From what I've heard if you are a resident you pay lower tuition fees and the government has bursaries for every student (because of taxes Quebecer's pay). Anyway but yeah thats my 10 cents. also Mcgill is in Quebec. There are only 3 English universities in Quebec and thats Bishop, Mcgill and Concordia.

[Be a true Canadian, and pronounce it "Teh-ronno"] As for life in Canada... all the exchange students I've spoken with have had no problem adapting into the culture. Quebec is only the place that could really qualify for the potential of culture shock. Anywhere else, and you'll be fine.
