Ehhhhh. The pun doesn't really work that well.
DOOM beta was good, can't wait to see how the final product turns out.
"A complete cluster-FAQ" would've worked better.
Actually kinda looking forward to this game, even though I'm not much of a Doom fan.
I think that Doom 4 feels too much like everything else on the market right now.
With the loadout system you can't really have a traditional arena shooter, and certainly not with unlocks.
I can't think of a major AAA titles that allows for old school arena gameplay. I think having the option to host and play on servers without loadouts and unlocks would help it stand out.
The new gamemode is cool, it's a moving KOTH mode which encourages constant moving instead of camping.
The maps have interesting verticality, with the new ledge grabbing this feels rather solid and works well.
The monster transformation is interesting, but in it's current state is just a gimmick that allows you to slaughter everything. A game mode based around one monster player being hunted by the rest of the server would be interesting.
Still, the lack of a confirmation on modding worries me somewhat, but the leaks imply that it may be possible to mod the game and that tools beyond snapmap could be released at a later date.

Why are people disageering with this? I haven't played the beta, but I'm curious on people's opinions as I haven't heard much about it.

it's not gameplay reason people are angry, a LOT of options have been locked in beta (No advanced options OR FOV options)
Which while strange, its been confirmed they will be in the final game.
They were probably looking to do performance tests with the alpha + beta.

Agreed, I played it and had a blast. I really loved all the customization options, and the gameplay felt really fluid and fast. It ran smoothly on my machine and looked great. The weapons seem a bit underpowered and the unchangeable FOV was a pain (but should be in the final release), but I thought it was great fun.

locked only for beta or also for release? I was gonna buy DOOM but if there is no options to configure FoV then I'd rather skip playing with 60something FoV
havent played it but im lookking forwARD TO IT FUCK YEAH DOOM!

The programmer already confirmed on twitter the full release has an FOV slider, and the locked advanced options menu somebody unlocked and it has a very robust amount of options to change
Beta players: How is the level design?

Serviceable.

It plays like a generic sci-fi shooter and costs full price.

There are so few of those these days that I'd go as far as to call that a plus. The last time I remember there being a big enough slew of non-military sci fi shooters coming out for any of them to be called generic, it was 2004. That's a year I'm rather fond of for it's sci fi shooters.

gee almost as if an incomplete piece of media has parts of it that's incomplete

If you have accessibility options in your game don't lock them even if it's a Beta. There are many people who genuinely have trouble with high-speed games and low FOVs.
There must have been a reason. I'm not going to try to grasp at straws to come up with one, but they probably didn't lock off those features just in spite.
I don't know, I played it for like an hour but I couldn't perform well and I felt like the game was just too slow, I was expecting some fast gameplay similar to Quake 3, so I kinda got disappointed.
Well, I'm glad I didn't buy it atm since it's costing like R$230 and that's like twice the price of most releases (for comparison, the new Wolfenstein was about R$130, which I find acceptable).

To test performance. It's easy to say "okay, the average frame-rate is 32" when everyone has the exact same settings. A higher FoV decreases performance, which is probably why they didn't want it editable in the beta.

That's why I was asking if it's locked only for beta
Doom multiplayer felt like something in-between of halo and quake. I for one did enjoy the game, even though I wasn't looking on playing multiplayer.
Beta players: How is the level design?
I think it's really good. There's a lot of verticality and tons of alternate paths leading to the same areas, teleporters, jump-pads etc.

Also the title edit is dumb.
I played it on ps4, here's my verdict:
Everything was fucking great except the No skill required gauss cannon.

Yeah the gauss cannon was pretty lame. It should do full current damage against demons and only like 60 against players.
