Moving on after my PC build thread, I now need a good monitor to take advantage of my powerful graphics card. My current monitor is an Acer AL1916W @ 1440x900 and I would like to buy a new IPS monitor @ 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 (I've been told to go for a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor, but I haven't heard any truly-convincing arguments for it. My budget is £200, including VAT. I would prefer to order the monitor from Ebuyer or Scan. I would like a monitor with a contrast ratio of at least 800:1. The monitor must be at least 23". I've been told to go for monitors by Acer, Asus or LG with my kind of budget. Please suggest some monitors for me, and tell me why you think it's good. Thank you.

The colors are amazing with a little bit of tweaking, and it has VGA, DVI and HDMI! It's not 8000:1 though, but it's what i recommend.
I would like a monitor with a contrast ratio of at least 8000:1.
Pretty sure only very high end/professional monitors would be capable of such a high true contrast ratio
Pretty sure only very high end/professional monitors would be capable of such a high true contrast ratio
This. The contrast ratio that manufacturers show on websites are just for marketing and mean absolutely nothing for 99% of people purchasing monitors. If you're specifically looking for a certain contrast ratio, chances are you're spending an arm and a leg on it as well.
I'm looking to buy this one: http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/24%22+Dell+UltraSharp+U2412M+Widescreen+IPS+Monitor+-+Black+?productId=45875 What do you guys think?
I was just about to say the Dell UltraSharp. I recommend this as the best price for what you get: http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/23%22+Dell+UltraSharp+U2312HM+Widescreen+IPS+Monitor+-+Black+?productId=46999 Review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm
