All of you have probably had the enjoyment to this screen as a kid and thinking all sorts of stuff about it, for one it is a world filled with snow, for others it's a battlefield with black against white. But for some it's the reality to live in that very screen 24/7, and that hell is called visual snow. Wikipedia's definition of visual snow: Visual snow is a transitory or persisting visual symptom where people see snow or television-like static in parts or the whole of their visual fields, especially against dark backgrounds. It is much like camera noise in low light conditions. The severity or density of the "snow" differs from one person to the next; in some circumstances, it can inhibit a person's daily life, making it difficult to read, see in detail and focus correctly. There are different causes for visual snow, i.e., visual snow is a non-specific symptom. Therefore, each subject with a leading complaint of visual snow needs a full diagnostic work-up including ophthalmic, neurological and psychiatric examinations as well as an MRI scan of the brain. However, test results for people suffering from the condition often all come back as normal with no underlying conditions found, and no cause known. Little medical research is taking place on the condition. There are also several other symptoms that people have that suffer from visual snow. Those are: Floaters They pop up now and then and move along with the movement of your eyes. Starburts Light beams or a glow from every bloody light source imaginable. After images, not need for a picture to describe it. It means you see certain images again after you have seen them. Tinnitus, is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of corresponding external sound. example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE5fIoveLoM What the girl says is correct, you hear it 24/7. And there are many more symptoms that may correlate to visual snow. You may ask yourself after this, why the hell did he bother making this. Well after a while it started bugging me quite a lot. It has gotten so far as that I can't sleep cause the static is making me insane. And of course seeing other people talk about it makes you feel a lot more comfortable, knowing you're not all alone in snowstorm. Update: Useful website I found that can simulate how much snow you're seeing. http://www.thevisioncommunity.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=78&Itemid=171 Mine are: Snow density 8 and flicker rate 4. TL/DR: I see static 24/7.
I get all of them, except the static is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY mild. I can BARELY see it in the dark. I'm scared
Go to an ophthalmologist, christ.
Whenever I look closely, I can see those Floaters. [editline]20:44[/editline] Seems like a lot of people has a case of floaters.
I get all of them, except the static is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY mild. I can BARELY see it in the dark. I'm scared
The ONLY time I see static is in the dark. I need to turn up my eye's ISO settings
the floaters in my eyes are fun to follow [editline]03:20AM[/editline] then they float away
Lol. I used to think they were parasites.
If "starbursts" are long rays of light extending from light sources, I get them. [editline]03:25AM[/editline] But only if I squint. Which is weird.
If you want insane visual snow, close your eyes and gently push your thumb into the side of your eye in the eye socket, watch the fireworks, open your eyes after too.
Wait I think I have this... If I look at things they seem like they're moving... Kinda... Shit I thought this was normal. Can this be fixed?
I have floaters, barely noticeable. And the occasional "starburst" just floating around, which is really weird. Actually I might have some slight static too in the extreme darkness. Are you sure these things aren't entirely normal? It seems like the majority of people have them anyway.
Well maybe everyone has it, but to a certain extent. In any case, I am not sure. However, My mother doesn't have it and a person I asked who wore glasses didn't have it either. The reason I asked them cause I thought it was either genetic, because my Dad has a certain eye problem. After I found out that it might not even be the case that I had very problem, I thought it was cause every person who wears glasses has it.
So that's what it is, everyone I've ever told thinks I'm retarded. Sometimes if I look up at the sky I can see the 'snow', and Floaters. I always thought it was just me. :ohdear:
Is it bad if I have all of these? I can see fine in the dark usually, but I get a filmgrain effect. Also I think it's pretty normal to get the "starburst" effect from ceiling lights. Also floaters are normal and everybody gets them.
I can pretty much see in the dark, I have near perfect vision :v: [editline]03:29AM[/editline]
If you want insane visual snow, close your eyes and gently push your thumb into the side of your eye in in the eye socket, watch the fireworks, open your eyes after too.
Holy fucknuggets dude
Wait I think I have this... If I look at things they seem like they're moving... Kinda... Shit I thought this was normal. Can this be fixed?
I spend some time reading on a forum that was created by people who have it, and they said some things work for some people and some don't. As far as I know you just have to suck it up and wait for some decent thing to be discovered. Also, not everyone has it because they have X problem. With some it just disappears because it was stress related.
One of my pupils is much naturally larger than the other, and I've been told this causes me to see light differently. I see these really well-defined, sharp, and abrasive light beams shooting out from every light-source.
If "starbursts" are long rays of light extending from light sources, I get them. [editline]03:25AM[/editline] But only if I squint. Which is weird.
that's from the specularity(shine) of your eyelashes, the light reflects off them into your eyes, they're so close they blur, and long starburst lines occur. i get floaters, especially when i blur out everything. haven't ever seen visual snow, though.
If you want insane visual snow, close your eyes and gently push your thumb into the side of your eye in the eye socket, watch the fireworks, open your eyes after too.
That hurts like hell.

Also one of my eyes sees color slightly different than the other. I don't know which one is normal. AND my ears always ring... I'm just fucked up. And for the people who don't have it, it's not as extreme as it is in that GIF.
little does wikipedia know this is what the world really looks like. its just most peoples eyes are to weak to see.
oooh, just noticed the tie. Ill see if I can answer some questions tomorrow.
Basically, eye floaters look like evil parasite worms are living in your eye. I was terrified for 12 years.
I see the static sometimes, the floaters a bit, and I'm not sure about the starburst. Though it does reminds me of goatse
That hurts like hell.
I SAID GeNTLY
I get this extremely severely in the form of a "vortex" static- which is where it looks like there's waves of static drawing into a central focal point all the time, if you're looking at a one-tone surface (especially blue and low-light surfaces, though). I used to terrified of a child of the dark because of this. Floaters are a bit entertaining to watch, though, if you're bored.
Damn, looks like I suffer from Visual Snow. The floaters are fun the mess around with, but I now really really really hate the "snow" part of it. Its really bad in the dark. Well, not that bad, but sometimes it can be annoying.
Oh my god I have this. Everything looks all staticy, I feel like I've just been noticing this in the past few months though, is this normal? Am I crazy? Shit.
Until you start thinking "what if those actually ARE parasites?" Yes, I have a thing with this
Floaters
I get these.
Oh my god I have this. Everything looks all staticy, I feel like I've just been noticing this in the past few months though, is this normal? Am I crazy? Shit.
Nah, it's nothing to worry about.
