http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/rugby-man-woke-up-gay-after-stroke
A 19-stone rugby player who suffered a stroke ditched his fiancee after claiming he woke up gay. Chris Birch, 26, has since slimmed down to a lithe 11 stone, retrained as a hairdresser and moved in with a teenage boyfriend. He now works at J's Hair Salon in Ystrad Mynach, south Wales, after giving up his job in a bank. The freak life-changing accident happened during a rugby training session when he attempted a back flip and broke his neck. His parents and girlfriend endured an anxious bedside vigil waiting to discover whether he would recover from the accident. The man who eventually emerged was different in almost every way and found he hated sport and was no longer interested in women. Plans to get married and settle down were dropped as he embarked on a new life as an openly gay man. "I was gay when I woke up and I still am," Mr Birch said, speaking from J' Hair Salon. He has also detailed the life-changing impact of his stroke in a series of newspapers. "It sounds strange but when I came round I immediately felt different. I wasn't interested in women any more," he is reported as saying. "I had never been attracted to a man before - I'd never even had any gay friends. But I didn't care about who I was before, I had to be true to my feelings. "Suddenly I hated everything about my old life. I didn't get on with my friends, I hated sport and found my job boring. "I started to take more pride in my appearance, bleached my hair and started working out. I went from a 19-stone skinhead to an 11-stone preened man."
'I love you Phillip Morris'?
WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA SLOW YOUR SHITSACS DOWN How? Now people will think being gay is a cause of mental damage.
WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA What the fuck? Great, now people will think being gay is a cause of mental damage.
I guess this supports that sexual orientation is hardcoded into the brain, but I'm sure some idiot will think that a change in the brain like this is still caused by damage and all gay people are retarded.
It's not so far fetched, Homosexuality is technically a mental... abnormality?
It's not so far fetched, Homosexuality is technically a mental... abnormality?
Back in the day we called those things 'personalities'.
I guess this supports that sexual orientation is hardcoded into the brain, but I'm sure some idiot will think that a change in the brain like this is still caused by damage and all gay people are retarded.
Honestly, I don't know how you can possibly have a conversation about this that isn't extremely awkward.
Back in the day we called those things 'personalities'.
Now that you put it that way I see what you mean, people prefer certain colours, smells and tastes. Gender preference is no different.
Honestly, I don't know how you can possibly have a conversation about this that isn't extremely awkward.
Well as terrible as it sounds it appears that homosexuality is a mutation of the brain. Makes you think what other personality traits are mutations and what the originals were?
He just got smarter is all
I find this hilarious for some reason.
This is hillarious.
100% proof that it's a choice right
The worst part of the story is that it's not "This life changing event made me realise I'm a homosexual" it's "I had a stroke so now i'm going to be the biggest stereotypical gay I can be!"
100% proof that it's a choice right
I think it could be both personally, some people are born gay, others may develop a psychological attraction to men.
I feel a tad sorry for the former fiancee.
Chris Birch, 26, has since slimmed down to a lithe 11 stone, retrained as a hairdresser and moved in with a teenage boyfriend. He now works at J's Hair Salon
no idea why being gay suddenly comes with the cliche stereotypes
I don't know exactly how someone ends up gay, but it sure as fuck isn't a conscious choice.
Ha using a stroke as an excuse. Silly man
Well as terrible as it sounds it appears that homosexuality is a mutation of the brain. Makes you think what other personality traits are mutations and what the originals were?
The brain is a mutation, as is personality, and every other aspect of human condition. Change is not inherently terrible, and there were no originals.
I'm... Not sure if I'm okay with this.
I'm... Not sure if I'm okay with this.
Careful, I think he's about to head into a coma from the shock.
Moral of the story: Don't break your neck or you'll wake up with a strange craving for man booty.
Any booty is still a booty.
A 19-stone rugby player who suffered a stroke ditched his fiancee after claiming he woke up gay.
The wording on this article is inflammatory.
rugby isn't the most heterosexual sport to begin with
No different to how people wake up and decide they suddenly like avocado (that, my boy, is brain damage).
The wording on this article is inflammatory.
One might even argue it's sensational!
People can wake up from stuff like this speaking different accents and all sorts of other strange shit, I don't see why sexual orientation couldn't get changed either
People can wake up from stuff like this speaking different accents and all sorts of other strange shit, I don't see why sexual orientation couldn't get changed either
Hell, some even wake up being able to speak other languages fluently. At worst people will say this is proof that gays are brain damaged or some bullshit, at best this goes towards the idea that it isn't a conscious decision you can make. But I don't know why he went along with those gay cliches.
He obviously decided while he was in a coma that he was going to be gay when he woke up. God forgave him despite his choice and with His blessing allowed him to wake up. This is proof of His benevolence.
People can wake up from stuff like this speaking different accents and all sorts of other strange shit, I don't see why sexual orientation couldn't get changed either
But why would he suddenly turn so.. camp?
