MAN ASTOUNDS SCIENTISTS WITH ASTONISHING WEIGHT LOSS STRATEGY, FDA STRIKE TEAMS SURROUND HIS HOME
“Eat to live, don’t live to eat,” said Bryan Woodhall, the 2014 winner of the Chronicle’s seventh annual Biggest Loser contest. The sentiment behind those words is what enabled Bryan to not only make it to the finish line in this year’s contest, but come out on top.
Bryan has dieted in the past, he said, but those were always fad diets.
“You try something out, it doesn’t work, you try something else,” he said. But this time around it was different for him. He said he had to “do a life change and stop eating things that were bad for (him).” He stopped eating anything that had partially hydrogenated oils in it, first and foremost. Things like his coffee creamer and peanut butter were among the first things to go. Then bread. He and his parents started making their own “healthy muffins,” Bryan said, and that was one of the changes that helped him win. He and his family can their own preserves, so they replaced sugar in a recipe with some of those homemade preserves, and also swapped out vegetable oils for applesauce instead.
Other changes he said they made included eating “lots of soups with loads of vegetables” in them. He also limited his meat consumption to about three times per week, opting for buffalo, salmon, chicken and local pork. He still drinks “one glass of Merlot every single day,” a small indulgence he was not willing to not give up.
He did, however, get into the habit of “measuring everything. I’m like a scientist,” he joked. He said he started out at 900 calories per day and gradually worked up to 1,700, which, he says, is “where his body is happy.” He controlled portion sizes and once he reached his caloric limit for the day, that was it; he was done eating for the day. He measured his wine consumption in the evenings accordingly: he knows 1/4 cup of Merlot has 40 calories, so he could portion out anywhere from 1/4 cup to 3/4 cup of wine per night depending on how many calories he had left over. He also ate dark chocolate with his wine once per week and credits those small indulgences with helping him end up as the winner. And when he eats out, he simply chooses the healthiest thing on the menu and that ensures he doesn’t miss anything.
I think it means it a lot of different vegetables, not just in pure quantity.
I thought all of this was obvious.
I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot!
If you aren't measuring calories to 36 significant figures, then you're doing it wrong. :downs:
Yeah, Syrah is better.
i mean science is pretty much just measuring shit amirite
Less calories in than you need and you lose weight automaticly.
Some guy actually lost weight just by eating McDonalds every day - but counting the calories.
Is this seriously our standard for news in the year 2014

How else do you do it?
How else do you do it?
he meant eating fast food every day
It's not exactly a big secret what makes you lose weight.
The problem isn't knowledge; it's self control.
You don't lose weight by dieting; you lose weight by changing your lifestyle.
I cut out soda's, bread, almost all snacks and starchy/carb rich foods.
Yet I still eat bacon and eggs twice a week and big slab of meat for dinner.
Don't shun fat, just make sure it's the good type of fat.
My favorite snack is cutting bits of bacon, stir frying it and eating it like chips once it's cooled.
I got the gym once, sometimes twice a week. A little bit of warm-up, some cardio, followed by strength training.
January 1st I weighed in at 101kg.
I lost 2kg within the first month and since January am down almost 12kg.
I had a blood test and physical last week actually; my cholesterol is fine as is my blood pressure and every other bio-metric indicator for most common health issues.
I'm still a fat fucker, but I'm making progress! And unlike every other diet I've tried, I can eat fat and keep myself from becoming a grumpy asshole.
If you are serious about losing weight; I strongly recommend checking out Keto:

No. Doesn't have a good enough nutritional profile. It gets better if you have something like brown rice with sesame seeds though.

depends
i'd say it's entirely possible to subsist off mcdonalds for ten years (provided you pick the correct foods) and still be healthy

Doubt it - there's just too much salt and sugar in virtually everything

It has to be hard to gain weight when you're constantly puking your guts out.

Believe it or not if you eat McDonalds only it's not really that unhealthy. McDs has really cut on some of the heavier unhealthy junk and especially as long as you don't get the fattiest saltiest meal each time
I honestly expected badage boys
Has that even popped up recently? I haven't seen it in years.

Assuming you didn't exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle otherwise, yes, your arteries would slowly be constricted and clogged with fat.
