I hadn't played an XCOM game before this. No where near perfect, but I really quite like it.
It should stay this price.

This isn't really XCOM though.
It's a fun game for what it is, I've played through it twice, maybe 3 times.
It's a fun game. The overview stuff is pretty awesome. Story is silly though.
How quickly this deal comes after release kind of speaks to its quality, if you were actually interested.

I dunno it was like half a year ago, that's pretty regular for a non AAA game to drop down from
I still why they didn't just rename the game instead of scrapping everything and ending up being very disappointing.
A lot like Mass Effect 1, without the parts being good.
I'm going to try it to form my own opinion.

So I've spent about two hours playing the game, and the most obviously thing I can see is that this game had XCOM plastered on it for either funding(Which is likely) or to sell more copies(equally as likely).
However, from what I've seen, the amount of effort with voice acting, graphics and effects...as well as the art style shows that 2K Marin really wanted to make this game. I'm leaning more towards they did it for money because around the same time they announced this, EU was announced.
It could be argued that the game's development happened before that, but I'm going to consider the original FPS version was a failed attempt. For express and purposes, this game could've stood on its own two feet but I'm not surprised that 2K put the XCOM name on it.

To be honest, I would be enjoying this more if they removed the XCOM references and made their own.
I tend to love the Alternate History games like Resistance.
They announced this like a year before they announced Enemy Unknown, and they changed the game pretty dramatically both in story and gameplay part way through.

The original FPS was announced before the strategy remake.
