• Bernie Sanders Will Face Donald Trump in 2020 Election, Democrats Say
The 2020 presidential election is Senator Bernie Sanders’ race to lose, according to a new survey of more than a dozen top Democratic strategists. The survey, conducted by The Hill, reveals a Democratic field crowded with old faces. At a time when the party could use some fresh blood, most contenders for commander-in-chief have been around for decades. Sanders, who will be 79 years old in 2020, currently leads the pack. “His people have never gone away,” Democratic strategist Brad Bannon told The Hill. “And he has a loyal core following out there that will be with him come hell or high water.” Sanders is the most popular politician in America, with an approval rating of 75 percent, according to a recent Harvard-Harris poll. Since losing the 2016 primary to Hillary Clinton, Sanders has toured the U.S. to promote his political group, Our Revolution, and his Medicare-for-all bill. His frequent travel has led many to speculate that he’s drumming up support for another presidential run. Advisers to the Vermont senator also have indicated that he’s eyeing the top job. When one of Sanders' associates was asked if his team was thinking about another run, the associate simply said, "Yes, is the answer." Sanders considers himself a Democratic Socialist, and is registered as an Independent in the Senate but ran as a Democrat in the 2016 election. Bannon says that since 2016, Sanders far-left politics have been embraced by Democrats at large. “The Sanders wing is becoming the dominant wing of the party,” he said. Sanders’ Medicare For All Act of 2017, which promotes a single-payer healthcare plan, is now supported by a third of Senate Democrats. When Sanders presented a version of the bill in 2013, he was unable to garner any support at all.
SOURCE
He's the best chance we have, honestly.
He's got my full and undivided vote. [editline]26th November 2017[/editline] I mean I see it happening, he has got his name out there well and he is not going away.
he should have had the Democratic ticket in 2016, tbh
Best of luck Bernie.
Not only can Bernie revitalize the Democratic party, he also appeals greatly to independents and even a small portion of Republicans. Unlike Trump, Bernie Sanders will actually work to unite this country.
good news? could it be?
He's got my vote if he does, but I'm not going to believe it until he confirms it himself.
Bernie can actually still win.
I personally think it is a little too late. Man's old, and looks even older. It's going to be a point brought up by Trump even if he himself is far from a youngling, he just look younger thanks to the wonders of facelifts and whatever the fuck he has covered and injected himself with. And people are going to buy it.
I thought republicans disliked Bernie Sanders for his political ideology and his fanbase
Tea-Party republicans don't like him because of his "social" programs. Moderate to just-right-of-center republicans like him just fine.
it's his turn! [sp]to lose black voters again[/sp]

The only thing those people don't have, as of yet, is the same cultural/political relevance, so that's where the Dems should step in, to prop them up. They should've stepped in as soon as they saw the kind of appeal Bernie can bring, but I guess that'd require embracing the party's left(ier) wing?
Better late than never
Bernie Sanders will be 80 in 2020. If he wins, he's gonna age 40 years throughout his presidency. At the end, he'll look like an Egyptian mummy.
Rather have Bernies Vice than Trump to be honest.
As much as I like Bernie I do think 79 is too old and there is a danger of him developing serious health issues during the Presidency. I would hope he would instead be training a suitable protegee. And not to be too pessimistic, it's possible he could die before the election itself.
Little bit too late you "it's her turn" fools. Bernie is still only a mere mortal, and not exactly a young one, and you screwed him over when he had the biggest chance and were definitely still mentally sound. I'm not gonna be surprised if they hope old-age problems makes him incapable shortly after being elected, and their vice-president gets to take the mantle.
I have to agree; he's too old. What is needed is Bernie's protégé.
I almost feel like Hilary is going to just somehow screw him over yet again it just feels like that leather-couch of a person is going to get off her heat rock and somehow actually manage to screw over Bernie and yet again lose to Trump a 2nd time

If Hillary runs against him in 2020, there is no way she isn't a republican.
Oh god they’re going to push Hillary for VP now aren’t they?
Spookily realistic thought. I'd almost rather his proteges run than her as VP and de-facto president.

That's one year older than Bernie! Also Donald Trump is 70 which makes him the oldest person to enter office.
Will the DNC actually agree with this?

While I'm a right-winger and won't vote for him, I still think he deserved the nomination over Hillary.
I would be really happy if he won, vindicating all the people who said he would have beaten Trump in 2016. Not that it necessarily would have been true then, but we need to end the era of "corporate" Dems like Hillary. If this actually pans out, it's going to be SUPER important that he pick a running mate that people like. Perhaps someone more moderate than him (not that I think we need someone more moderate).
