Ryan Reynolds will make his debut as Hal Jordan next week in "Green Lantern," but for the Marvel-inclined masses, there's another upcoming Reynolds role that's foremost on their minds: mouthy mercenary Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool.
During the press junket for "Green Lantern," MTV News approached Reynolds about the status of Deadpool's solo film, which recently snagged visual-effects veteran Tim Miller as its director.
"I love Tim," Reynolds told MTV News. "Tim is someone who we all vetted through and through. He's a guy who captures the spirit of it, and he's also an incredible visual artist."
"He was also the first guy we met who came up with a huge presentation for it," he added. "That was something I hope to able to show you at some point."
Reynolds added one more comment about Miller's attachment to the project that could shed some light on the type of film "Deadpool" is likely to be. Basically, if you're hoping for a massive, budget-busting blockbuster, you might want to adjust your expectations.
"Also, Tim came cheap, which helped as well," said Reynolds. "In order to do this movie the way we want to do it is pretty nasty, and pretty hard. You can't exactly have a $200 million budget when you want to do a movie like this."
Fuck yeah Tim Miller.
I like how Reynolds actually likes to do smaller, less profitable movies because of their plots and characters.
Why is it that a movie that has the potential to actually do well has a small budget? Green Lantern has a huge budget and to be honest it looks like it will be sub-par.
i've always liked the movies ryan reynolds was in, seems like a chill dude.
Give them more money. Problem solved.
well pulp fiction was made on a pretty small budget too
it wasn't a super-hero movie but still
He better actually wear the mask
and he should keep his shirt on
you don't have to advertise your body constantly like women do

Hey chill out he was just going out for his daily stroll around town half naked

formulaic blockbusters require a large budget

He better actually not take if off either.
I still have little faith for this considering they decided to go for a guy who directs commercials as the director for this. If Rodriguez had stuck with it, I'd be interested. Too bad that fell through.

I'm surprised anyone even know who he is.

As far as the industry is concerned, just because someone is working in commercials, ads, or something else doesn't mean they lack either creative potential or the ability to produce a good movie, a good movie is also the work of a lot of people, and not just one director.

Uh yeah I'm aware a film has more than one person working on it, but the director still plays a large role in the direction of the overall quality of the film. And I didn't say that just because he does commercials means he has no talent, I just have more faith in someone who has already proven themselves in handling stuff like over-the-top action than someone who just did some pretty commercials.

I want this movie to be amazing, but I'm not getting my hopes up in the slightest until i hear what people think of it.
No, Robert Rodriguez is busy making Spy Kids 57: The Kids who are Spies.
He can say all he wants, but if it's not an R-rated movie, I don't wanna hear it.
Ryan Reynolds is one of my favorite actors and a pretty cool guy. Hell, I'm seeing Green Lantern in part because I like the Green Lanterns and in part because of Ryan Reynolds.
I really can't wait. Deadpool's awesome!

He has a nice body.
I think Reynolds is great for that role. Remember the smartass he played in Blade Trinity?
Wouldn't it be weird having one actor play two different super heroes?
I think it's unlikely that there would be a DC-Marvel cross over movie, so it doesn't actually matter. Also, been waiting for this movie for ages, read the script and it's awesome.
Been reading the Cable & Deadpool comics, and unfortunately that isn't a story that they could really do with a low budget, but anything with Deadpool is awesome.

The guy that played the Human Torch in Fantastic Four is now Captain America lol
Well to be honest it should be less weird if he has the mask on

Holy shit, I completely forgot about that.
For good reason.

Neill Blomkamp springs to mind
Neill Blomkamp springs to mind
Except Neil Blomkamp had done a short film that was basically a proof of concept for District 9, plus he was going to have Peter Jackson helping him out with the film. I really wouldn't call the two comparable.

Chris Evans is The Human Torch and Captain America.
