so i have been trying to rip some of the maps out of mw2 for quite some time now, and frankly im becoming quite frustrated by it.
i know that there is nothing wrong with 3d ripper, as i can rip from cod 4 with no problems at all, but it will not inject itself into mw2 so that i am able to capture.
i originally bought the game through steam, but after getting frustrated with that i figured that i was most likely missing something and bought a hard copy of the game on disk as well.
i have tried on 2 separate computers:
Toshiba A665 laptop
running windows 7 home premium 64 bit
intel core i7 q740 @1.73GHz (8 CPUs)
8 GB Ram
500 GB 7200 Rpm hardrive
its running directX 11
3d ripper dx 1.8
this computer runs 3d ripper no problem and will rip from cod 4
i figured that perhaps it was running mw2 in a higher but unsupported version of direct x
so i tried a different computer
Built Older Tower
running windows xp professional (5.1, build 2600)
AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3dNow (2 CPUs)
3 GB Ram
multiple hardrives
running Direct X 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
3d ripper dx 1.8.1
it still wont inject itself on the tower, even by running global system monitering, the ability to capture jsut will not show up.
on youtube i have seen a few cases of people actually getting it to inject so i know that it is possible
one is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYb12dEKuoU
although unlike in the video i cannot find the mw2 .exe file, and have been trying through steam, which will boot mw2, but will not give me the ability to capture
i heard that it was possible to run 3d ripper dx through steam by using the -applaunch parameters found by right clicking on the game icon, when i right click however i am given this "steam://rungameid/10190" (the multiplayer mw2), i have also tried the single player, but have not had success either, there is no -applaunch in any of the tabs (on either computer)
i want the maps and models from mw2, if i can get them, so that i can rig them and animate them for youtube montages (i realize that i most likely will not be able to get a t pose, but that does not bother me i will rig each side independently if i have to, as well as deleting excess to isolate the model)
any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated

steam files are normally located in (steam install dir)/steamapps/(your steam login name)/(name of game) OR (steam install dir)/steamapps/(steam login name)/common/(name of game), so look in there for your .exe.
According to the poster of the video you linked to, he was using a steam-independent (read: cracked) version of the game, so if you choose to proceed you might want to practice caution.

does that sound like piracy to you?
