Hey, I'm getting some transparent blue streaks running vertically down my screen, and whenever I open up a video game, all the colors change and my computer crashes. The first time I tried restarting, my screen resolution was reset. I tried updating the video drivers, but it didn't fix the issue. Help?
Sounds like a dead/dying GPU to me, had a similar problem with my 9800 and it stopped working entirely the next day.
I recommend getting a new one.
Alternatively, you could try baking it if you're short for cash and can't be fucked replacing it at the moment. My old card had major artifacting out of the blue one day. I just followed a tutorial online and managed to get it working perfectly fine, and that lasted me till I got around to buying a new one.
Not usually recommended though, as it won't do the life of it any good, but if you need a card to hold you over till you get enough money to buy another, no harm giving it a shot. Worse case scenario is you still have an unusable GPU.

There is no point putting it in the oven unless you pretty much already have a replacement en-route and are bored.

If it were artifacts, it would show in screens. It's a monitor, or maybe cable problem.
