This reminds me of the cure for Morphine addiction; heroin.
I'm not going to be surprised when the patients taking this drug get addicted to it, so the manufacturer of this drug can cash in like Vicodin and others have.
I assume the idea here is that the drug mentioned in the article isn't as bad for you as shit like...heroin, which is why you'd want turn to it
This has been happening forever...
This is like giving a smoker the Nicotine Chewing Gum.
Legalize it
You're substituting addiction with addiction.
Before I clicked the thread I thought "Give them so much of the drug they overdose and die. Addiction cured."
Then I clicked the thread and went :what:

You're looking at it the wrong way.
how is this even news? this is a normal way of combating addiction because addicts just going cold turkey is dangerous as hell.

I'm pretty sure cold turkey is better than waning off the drug for opiates.
Yea my uncle uses this sort of thing for his addiction to, its just that it costs so much
dear america
legalize all drugs
solve problems

"Fighting addiction" is actually about harm minimization. If you can get someone off a dangerous drug onto a less dangerous one you've made huge progress towards helping the person.

No, the withdrawl for opiates is horrible and it takes an enormous strength of will to keep from relapsing. Though it can't actually kill you like alcohol and benzo withdrawl can, it is important to wean someone off.

Fight all hard drugs with weed.
Problem solved.

considering you can die from going cold turkey on heroin i wouldn't advise this.
Ive been doing this for years, get an urge to smoke pot so i go and pack a bowl and burn it down and BAM no more urges.
It's good they have a very safe drug that can wean people off their addiction. As far as I remember, they used to use other dangerous opioids to do the weaning, but now they've got a drug that the user cannot OD from.
Judging from a lot of these posts, I don't think most people watched the video and are just assuming it is the typical weening off with another dangerous drug.

A lot of people don't seem to realize this. The same is true of extreme alcohol addiction.

Overcompensate by making drugs mandatory.
