So earlier today me and a friend started up a Skype call before playing some Xbox. For the most part we'd had a solid connection but a fair way into the chat the quality had taken a massive drop. I restarted the call and it didn't help at all, so next we both restarted Skype and tried again with no luck. After that we decided to try hosting a voice chat on Steam but had no luck with it either as it was still stuttering in and out. After this we both tried Discord and while the quality was high and crisp the chat was still stuttering in and out and I couldn't hear him. As a last ditch we both restarted our routers and tried both Discord and Skype again and the issue was still present.
Any idea what the issue could be? I doubt it's my internet as everything else is functioning fine. Thoughts?

If it's useful information the first call had lasted about two hours, one and a half if you exclude the period it started to shit the bed.
