He then signaled to a second car, also driven by a woman, to slow down and began firing into the vehicle.
source
this is getting old
Holy shit not again
Am I the only one that kind of thinks it was a little silly to pull over when a guy with a gun tells you to? For one, your car weighs a lot so ducking your head over and gunning it towards the guy imo seems like it would've been an option.
That's fucked up
a military-style rifle
and here we go again
and here we go again
At least it is more descriptive than "Assault weapon". Most likely the reporters dont know the excact make yet, and use witness reports.
stop
It's going to happen regardless... Sadly
What a surprise, someone with easy access to guns killed people!

And I assume THIS one does NOT count suicides. Unless they are self-homocides. That is just usually the excuse for why gun violence is so high. It is also high without suicide. [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] Ok but it is dumb to include Russia with NO DATA. Russia probably has a much worse rate than the USA, but that is just my rash and uneducated assumption about life and crime in Russia.

Also CNN quoted someone as saying it looked "like a big shotgun"" Speaking of CNN, I encourage everyone to watch Pierce Morgan tonight. [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] drats, double post
What the hell, why do so many fucking people want to shoot each other? [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] And why so much in America? [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] TOO MANY QUESTIONS

It's not worth playing hero.

[editline]7th June 2013[/editline] TOO MANY QUESTIONS
American culture is very individualistic and competitive. Living in the US is basically a free for all, and if people don't get something they want, they blame some other group of people. Mental health assistance basically stops at unstable anti depressants. Lots of mixed cultures in one place breeds unwarranted racial segregation and tension because people aren't informed. The government is incompetent, schools are in abysmal shape that will never get better at this rate. Bad education leads to bad futures. The media indirectly glorifies mass shooters by immortalizing their name and face. Guns are not the problem.

The problem isn't that people CAN shoot each other, it's that they WANT to shoot each other.
This kind of thinking would get you killed. It's not worth playing hero.
In this case complying with the guy got them killed too, so yeah.
"As I was running down the stairs I saw one of the gunmen," said Gillespie, who described the shooter as a white man in his 20s, wearing cornrows in his hair and black overalls. He said the man was carrying a shotgun. Gillespie believed there were two shooters because he heard two kinds of gunfire — a shotgun and a handgun — but only saw one person. "The shotgun blast was first. It was either him or the partner who shot eight to 10 handgun shots," Gillespie said. "Then after I saw the gunman I heard more shots and I ran out of the library through the emergency exit."
News agency reports a "military style weapon" but eyewitness reports a shotgun. They can't even get their shit straight in the same article.
It's pretty odd to label this thread breaking when by the time it was created he was long dead. Anyways it's a good thing this person didn't kill more people and was stopped before he did anything more than he already did. Also I doubt this will spark a gun debate here seeing how they're pretty much all but banned here. You can barely get any firearms in California and that's if you're lucky enough to even find ammo for them.
American culture is very individualistic and competitive. Santa Monica and pretty much California as a whole is as mixed as you're ever going to see in your entire life and your point about racial tension comes off as a point from someone who is marching up and down the street complaining how their culture is being destroyed because of immigrants would make. There's no tensions at all here and we have some of the best schools in the country. This took place in a rather good area and to just label it all as "lol individualistic and competitive and bad education" is nothing short of lazy and uninformed. Your observation is as far from what actually happened here it couldn't be more wrong. This was most likely just the work of a mentally disturbed individual who aquired weapons more than likely not even legal here.
B-But California has such strict gun control! How could this have happened?

Soccerskyman didn't say, "why so much in santa monica?" he said, "why so much in America?". And in truth, what Razzums said is very true for a large part of the country (except for Santa Monica, according to you).
For all you who don't know: CA has banned short barreled rifles, limits 'assault weapons' to 3 attachments, caps magazines to 10 rounds, and AR-15s require a key to release the mag. And guess what? This shit still happens no matter what.
Exactly, If a criminal is going to commit a crime, he has full intent to do so. He/she is not going to care about laws to get a weapon that will do damage. All gun control laws are doing is stopping civilians from being able to out-right defend themselves if necessary.

He brought up things that lacked any relevance whatsoever such as race. Another example being the education system. How does some random crazy psycho going on a shooting rampage have to do with education? If a crazy person has issues and makes no attempt at trying to help solve these issues much less even let anyone else know then how is it anyone's but his own fault? Also Santa Monica is indeed an exception seeing how its in California. California has extremely strict gun laws and yet this still happened so no one can blame the guns in America for this one but blaming it on race and how individualistic everyone can be is completely wrong. If how competitive and individualistic was such a huge role then China would be rolling around in extreme murder rates. This causes for this are different than that.
-woops, dumb-
The US also has a larger population than them.
Read top: Per 100,000
Oh. Woops.
