If you don't know quadrazid, check his other videos for insane skill
What in the hell... I thought the view is just upside down, didn't expect whole gravity to be upside down too.
The game barely starts and he already has to do bunny-hopping and grenade jumping to progress. Damn
That's amazing but I don't get what happened when he was suppose to push the specimen carrier into the slot thing. It fell down and you can't lift objects up?

He did the run by using "sv_gravity -800;cl_pitchup 270;cl_pitchdown -90;m_yaw -0.022", which basically inverts the gravity and camera
The thing with hl1 (also other source games) is that most things are only affected by gravity once they leave the ground, which is generally things that jump (headcrabs) and physics objects (that carrier)
This is actually pretty incredible. I wonder if you could complete this whole game upside down?
That would really say something about it's level design.

Sounds impossible without cheats. What would happen once you reach the surface? You also saw at the end that it's not possible to advance further without the use of cheats or mods.
So, this is how they play video games in Australia?
Man, I guess when I get shit-talked by an Australian online I deserve it.

xen would be a nightmare no
xen would be a nightmare no
You could probably do xen with a metric shitload of gauss gun + grenade jumping, but the outdoor levels are probably the most difficult part.

There's a small trigger volume up on the ceiling that triggers the next level, they used it in the HL in 20m run as well- I think they go into greater detail about them in their breakdown. From the looks of it they only used the cart to launch themselves back up.
Whoa, I like to think I'm pretty familiar with the layout of hl1, so seeing it like this is really messing with my head.
Kinda cool how some sections almost seem like they were made for trick jumping though
Yeah, good look with Xen.
That was really weird, my brain just accepted everything as completely normal because the gravity was going the wrong way too.
I'm both very impressed and little dizzy.

There's a changelevel trigger on the roof which conveniently he's already on. He uses an object boost on the specimen to push him up to the window.
This would have been a lot more interesting if it wasn't just a blur of bunnyhopping - one example being the scientist in the locker room at 2 minutes in, not even 2 seconds of screen time.
ok so what the fuck did he even do at 13:28?

Who cares about the NPCs? The video would be boring as shit if he just stopped and listened to the same scientist conversations we've all heard a million times over already.

i think quadrazid is one of the few people in the world skilled enough to do this

All he needs for the time being is to find something, either the perfect grenade jump or another means, to get up that vertical shaft after the tentacles and into the water, but I don't know if he'd have enough health for both. After that I remember a large number of wide ceiling areas and after a point the open sky of the outdoors would probably end the run again.
if you want to do something very interesting, use ultramon to flip your monitor as if it was viewed by a mirror, and play any game the same way (with controls reversed the same way, so that it plays exactly as it should)
once you do this, pick a game to play that you're EXTREMELY familiar with. It'll be really weird as everything will feel misplaced
When I read the title I was expecting him to flip his monitor upside down or something, not this. Holy shit

of course, but it's extremely weird to do it

I remember the old Ratchet and Clank games (and the Tony Hawks games I think) Had mirror level cheats.
Nothing was more disorientating then playing a level you've explored countless times, flipped around.

Considering the game is entirely a corridor shooter it wouldn't, especially when most of the stuff happens within, then nah
It's not possible once you realize that since gravity is inverted, at one point you will just fall into the sky, especially in Xen.
