3D Engines

I am interested in playing around with 3D, anyone have any experience in this? I wanted to start with open source engines, Irrlicht to be exact. Would you recommend a different engine?

No but this is the hardware and [b]SOFTWARE[/b] subforum. A game engine is a type of software.

OT: Are you looking at creating something specific such as a game or just wanna screw around?

I plan on making a game but I know that it is a lot of work and that there is much to learn before I may be successful. At first I am gonna play a bit around and get a hang on it.

And I know what you think, "there is another guy who wants to make a game, and he doesnt know how much work that is and that you have to be really passionate about it if you wanna get things done", I know that, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

I don't think that at all. Unlike many people around here in Facepunch, I'm not one of those guys. Been there many times with trying to make one but I always just got bored of it. So good luck to you and I hope you have the time to complete what you wish and stay with. Don't give up!
