Man, they really just phoned that one in.
Felt cheap. The least they could have done was make the intro in real minecraft or something. Or make the couch gag 2 years ago
I wish simpsons would just die off already.
It's weird to think that I first heard about this small game on Facepunch almost four years ago, and now it's become a cultural phenomenon.
“The Simpsons did a Minecraft couch gag,” tweeted Notch this morning. “I’m not sure how I feel about it.
Its almost like he is disappointed that The Simpsons did a gag on Minecraft.
Its almost like he is disappointed that The Simpsons did a gag on Minecraft.
man i still remember the time of blocky games before minecraft..
simpsons is just trying so hard to be hip and "with it" that it's sad
simpsons is just trying so hard to be hip and "with it" that it's sad
simpsons has been like this since the movie, but at the same time everything the simpsons does has been vaguely topical humor for the time
simpsons is just trying so hard to be hip and "with it" that it's sad
I used to be "with it", but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm "with" isn't "it", and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you.
I guess South Park did it first this time. They already had an entire episode dedicated to Minecraft and those murder mystery shows last year. All of this effort on The Simpsons could've gone into an extra season of two of Futurama. Much better show in my opinion.
Even Matt Groening hates The Simpsons now. Why the fuck do people still watch it?

The writers did a great job and ended it on a great note.
simpsons has been like this since the movie, but at the same time everything the simpsons does has been vaguely topical humor for the time
So its like Spongebob, there was a good movie and then everything after that was complete shit I honestly haven't kept up with Simpsons in so long and that's really sad since it was my entire life as a kid, at least the old stuff is still gold
Even Matt Groening hates The Simpsons now. Why the fuck do people still watch it?
more like, why the fuck does it still exist?
I guess South Park did it first this time. They already had an entire episode dedicated to Minecraft and those murder mystery shows last year.
more like, why the fuck does it still exist?

to be fair, at least futurama had a mostly good end to it but the "ending" still allows for it to be uncancelled.
the ending [sp]literally resets the timeline to the first episode with them having no memory of the future-future, thus making all reruns technically canon as happening again. the timeline can't alter because they have no knowledge that would change a single course of action, dooming them to loop forever technically speaking they COULD shoehorn more episodes 'between' others, but there's no reason to resurrect it at this point as the new writing team could never do it justice again[/sp]

Well there is a Futurama/Simpsons Crossover episode this Fall. It is a time travel story. Which according to Matt Greonings own rules should not happen, because Futurama is "Real Life" and the Simpsons was a TV Show there. Also the fact that the Simpsons are Yellow and the Humans in Futurama are not.
That was a pretty shit intro
Me mentioning that Futurama/Simpsons crossover reminds me. There is a Family Guy/Simpsons Crossover also coming out this Fall. But it is Family Guy episode taking place in Springfield with Simpsons Characters, not a Simpsons episode with Family Guy characters. The premise sounds so bad that my curiosity makes me want to watch it.
Wait, what? I thought [sp]at the end, Farnsworth was able to take them back to the point in time before Fry and Bender got their hands on his time resetting device. I didn't know he was taking them back to the starting point of the series.[/sp]
shoot, I'll have to rewatch it again, but [sp]it still remains that they're unknowingly trapped in a time loop, as farnsworth said they wouldn't have any memory of the events that happened up to the point they traveled back to... unless I missed something about them destroying or otherwise avoiding the device somehow. My memory of when they were resetting to might be a little skewed because they followed up the finale with episode 1[/sp]
simpsons has been like this since the movie, but at the same time everything the simpsons does has been vaguely topical humor for the time
Yeah, but so is South Park and they do topical humor way, way better.
Yeah, but so is South Park and they do topical humor way, way better.
because they're poignant about it. They ridicule culture and draw huge scenarios about it, not just throw in little gags for "haha I know about that" flavor
because they're poignant about it. They ridicule culture and draw huge scenarios about it, not just throw in little gags for "haha I know about that" flavor
Another good reason is that South Park episodes take 6 days to make, so they can react to things happening a lot quicker - a Simpsons episode takes 6 months.
simpsons is just trying so hard to be hip and "with it" that it's sad
They always have, even the old episodes have cultural references to what was cool then. Remember the 3D THoH episode? There was like a weird Must reference in that.
It's weird to think that I first heard about this small game on Facepunch almost four years ago, and now it's become a cultural phenomenon.
I still have an email I sent to Notch asking about how the grass spreads to dirty block from the 19th of May, 2009.
shoot, I'll have to rewatch it again, but [sp]it still remains that they're unknowingly trapped in a time loop, as farnsworth said they wouldn't have any memory of the events that happened up to the point they traveled back to... unless I missed something about them destroying or otherwise avoiding the device somehow. My memory of when they were resetting to might be a little skewed because they followed up the finale with episode 1[/sp]
I decided to go look it up on the Futurama Wiki (because I seriously have nothing better to do with my time right now) and it says [sp]Farnsworth took them back to the point in time before he conceived the time button so he could prevent himself from creating it. So they just ended up back at the beginning of the episode while Farnsworth, presumably, stops his past self from creating the time button and everything continues as normal (1). Patric M. Verrone's original plan was what you thought had happened; that everyone would be sent back to where they were at the beginning of the series. However, they ended up scrapping the idea (2).[/sp] These links contain spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the Futurama series finale. You have been warned. 1 2
Moe as creeper was pretty funny though.
