So, here's my problem; I tried using Linux without knowing how to do the Linux. I burned the OS to a CD, and booted my old XP comp from the disc. Now, I watched a walkthrough on how to install this OS, and completely messed up my PC in the process. (No worries, this is a old 2005 work comp that only has 1 gig of ram, and a geforce 6150 LE)
Does anyone know how to install mineOS, or a linux-based OS in general, and on-top of that fix some ah...partitioning errors?
Info on mineOS CRUX: http://minecraft.codeemo.com/ basically a linux alternative server OS, built entirely around dedicating the system to a minecraft server. On top of that, it allows for forum hosting, and I was looking to get a gmod dedicated ( on another PC of course, this crappy work comp is only for experiments )
Thanks in advance!
how do i linux.
It is actually really easy. Just press next until shit works. Or get a flash drive with some bootable Live Linux, no need to waste CD-s or DVD-s for that anymore. Use Ubuntu or Mint for easyness. Just put the disc / flash drive in and when booted up, choose GParted. You can use that for partioning.
I doubt that machine will be able to run a Minecraft server without crashing every 10 minutes.

That could do 4-5 players pretty easily.

I've run a minecraft server on 256 MB DDR1 and an Intel Celeron 2.4 MHz from 2002'ish. It gets a bit tricky to open doors, but at least it didn't spam "Can't keep up!".

Also @OP, when I installed Arch Linux to my server I had some problems which sounds a bit similar to what you describe, as much as anything can sound similar to what you posted. Your explanation of your problem is very vague and it would help if you could post any errors you see. Anyway, it's possible that you are having the same problem as I had, so if you could post a complete description of what you have done, where it went wrong etc. that would be helpful.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
