Since there's been going on a lot of irrelevant discussion in various threads, we could use this thread to ask various questions or to discuss all our muscle memory stuff, your favorite artist or why shitting in a jar is art. This thread is so we could get more concentrated artwork goodness in other threads and less scrolling over irrelevant posts. --------------------------- Gonna start out by asking what do you drink when you're in your creative progress? I usually have me a cup a coffee/tea, or when I'm working with watercolour I have a pocal of wine, since I tend to hot bewerage cups with that water cup you soak your brushes in.
Cool idea. This is good. Contribution to random discussion: Usually I just drink pints of water. If there's coke I'll have that, but that isn't often. If I'm hella tired but really need to get some work done I walk round the corner and buy a Monster.
When sculpting, it's usually some OJ. It depends when drawing, it can vary from an energy drink at 4am or a glass of wine in the evening.
A can of River Cola. Do you listen to music or anything while doing creative stuff?
Pabst Blue Ribbon. It's great with a little pinch of salt thrown in. Inb4 "hipster!"
Do you listen to music or anything while doing creative stuff?
Always! Sometimes I stick to jazz and classical to sooth me, but usually it's just anything amongst my giant and weirdly varied iTunes.
Been listening to Godspeed You Black Emperor. They do ambient-ish music, it works out really great.
I end up dipping my paintbrush into my drink instead of my jar of water, so I have to be careful and drink from bottles, haha. Plus sometimes what I listen to depends on the mood of what I'm creating. One day I'll be painting and cranking up 80's hits and other days I'll want trance.
I listen to music depending on my mood.
I need music no matter what I do, such as: bio exams, papers, research, sculpting, painting, quantum physics, statistics, math, simulation, eating... etc. The only time I have music off is when I am asleep.
"bzzzt. They have a large barge with a radio tower antenna on it that they charge up and discharge... bzzzt."
I am incredebly annoyed by that message. Kills all the flow. Also I got one more work to do and my first freelance assigment is over!
Inb4 "hipster!"
hurpsdurr! the split-toned photos don't help your argument :v: also I told 3v to make the thread yay
I am incredebly annoyed by that message. Kills all the flow.
I think it fits, its ghostly.
I like to have varied music whenever I'm in a creative mood, so it can really go from 60's pop to 80's glam metal to 70's jazz to 90's funk to... The only thing I don't have on my playlist is white power-music and trance/techno, because that is a genre of music I just can't get into.
Do any of you watch TV while being creative?
What is white power music? [editline]10th December 2010[/editline]
Do any of you watch TV while being creative?
I usually watch some shows off my second screen but I never pay them attention. Guess I do'nt need music I just need white noise to accompany my actions.
My music collection gives me mad mood swings. One moment it's this: Then next on shuffle comes this: Confuses my poor brain.
Do any of you watch TV while being creative?
I used to watch TV in the background when doing anything, but that's most computer people for ya
Do any of you watch TV while being creative?
The other night I'll worked while Buzzcocks, Russell Howard, Big Bang Theory and Family Guy were on in succession... but that's only because my bro was in the room with me. I rarely watch TV, while working or otherwise.
I used to watch TV in the background when doing anything, but that's most computer people for ya
I make a lot of music so any other sound is a distraction for me. But at other times, I'll have my TV on.
What you guys name your layers? Mine are usually Mr. something Eg. scratchy jim is sketch and Mr. brick is blocking in with colours.
layer 1 layer 5 layer 23 layer 77 layer 4 then I squint really hard at the thumbnails to figure out which is which
What you guys name your layers? Mine are usually Mr. something Eg. scratchy jim is sketch and Mr. brick is blocking in with colours.
Haha I'm far more boring. Usually I act all official and name them things like "sketch", "lines", "skintones" or whatever. Sometimes if I'm bored and editing someone's Garry's Mod picture though I'll end up isolating characters onto new layers and calling the layers things like "badassmotherfucker01" and "badassmotherfucker 02" and calling special effects "fancy glowing shit".

Also am I capable enough to create a comission that's worth 10eur? I don't know, cause I've never had any balls to ask any money for anything I've done so far.
From what I've seen of your art I think you are.
Anyone know where I could find someone that could gift some dude a 10€ value game over steam if I did comission for one?
You shouldn't be the one asking for work, they should come to you or you find someone who says "I want x or y drawn for z money". [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] Actually, I got an idea. Brb making a thread!
