In my opinion, it would have been more entertaining if Nicky stayed the villain throughout the movie. He's just so entertaining and silly as a villain.
Not that Travolta isn't a good villain, it's just that he was also the villain in Broken Arrow, which ended up being pretty much the same performance.

It's funny, Cage plays all his roles, even his dramatic ones, like a slapstick type insano character.
